A translator to convert your normal text into upside down text.
How to make upside-down text
You might have seen someone commenting on a blog or video with a unusual upside down font, and now you’ve come looking to see how it’s done. Well, look no further, because they very likely copied and pasted upside down text from a translator just like this.
The way this translator works is very simple: Unicode is a set of standardised symbols which includes hundreds of thousands of different symbols. Most modern web browsers have implemented a large number of these so you can view them on webpages (when you can’t, a generic hollow square usually appears in its place). So, within unicode there just so happen to be a set of symbols which roughly correspond to upside down versions of normal text symbols. So this app simply converts each normal text symbol to its roughly-equivalent upside down unicode character.
You might notice that a few of the upside down letters aren’t actually upside down at all. For example, when you try to convert the “@” character, it stays the same. That’s simply because there isn’t a flipped equivalent of the “@” character. Unicode didn’t intentionally create a set of upside down symols for each normal character – all of the flipped characters have just occurred by coincidence. For example, the upside down question mark: “¿” was created for languages like Spanish, which use that symbol in their normal sentences.
Copy and paste
You should be able to copy and paste the upside down letters to most social media sites including blogs and the like. Any place that supports unicode characters will generally support all of them. You may only have trouble when trying to use the mirrored letters and characters for email addresses, URLs and that sort of thing.
There are several lists of upside down characters around the internet. The wikipedia section on upside-down text contains a fairly complete table of all the characters. Below is the full lower-case upside down alphabet for you to individually cut and paste:
z ʎ x ʍ ʌ n ʇ s ɹ b d o u ɯ l ʞ ɾ ı ɥ ɓ ɟ ǝ p ɔ q ɐ

How does upside down text work?
The upsidedown text or FlipText is one of Leetspeak’s types and is used in the jargon of the network. It is a kind of secret language and used make text unrecognizable by word filters in chats and forums. The text is rotated 180 ° by first writing backwards, then replacing each character with a character that is as close to a 180 ° as possible. For instance, “Prepostseo” becomes “Ԁɹǝdosʇsǝo”
Only a few characters in the ordinary ASCII character set (b / q, d / p, n / u and 6/9) have correspondences rotated by 180 °, very few are even rotationally symmetrical and need not be changed (z, s, x, o, 0 and 8). The rest of the characters use either special Unicode characters, particularly those of the International Phonetic Alphabet, or only approximately similar characters (e.g. USD-Encoding, w / m).
Is Flip Text the same as Reverse Writing?
It is not. A lot of people get confused about this topic. Please note that the text upside-down is completely different from the reverse text. The letters and symbols in your writing would be the same with reverse text, but in the reverse order. For instance, ABC’s reverse is CBA. On the other hand, each letter is “flipped” around with upside down writing and the order of the letters is also reversed in our upside down text generator. It’s like writing a letter and then reading the page with upside down font.
See this illustration to fully understand the difference:
Standard Word: Prepostseo
Flipped Word: Ԁɹǝdosʇsǝo
Reversed Word: oestsoperP
Flipped Word with Reversed Transition: oǝsʇsodǝɹԀ
So, if you’ve always wanted to write text upside down, this tool is for you! We’ve created this Upside Down Text Generator & Reverse Text for you to make writing fun and cool.
Have you ever seen somebody use upside down text on the web? Ever wonder how to do it? Let’s take a quick look at how the characters are actually put together, and show you an easy generator that will do it for you.
Upside down text is actually just a trick that uses special Unicode symbols that appear to be upside down letters, though they really aren’t turned upside down. By replacing the regular letters with the correct upside-down letters, it appears as though you’re writing upside down.
Upside Down Example
Here’s what it looks like when you write “how-to geek” upside down using Unicode characters:
In case your browser or email client can’t process Unicode properly, this is what it should look like:
Using Unicode Characters for Upside Down Text
If you want to use upside-down text or you just want to find some interesting Unicode symbols somewhere, you’ll need to start off by finding the right characters to use. Your best bet is to check out this massive list of Unicode characters over on Wikipedia, and just search for a character name that you’re looking for.
To make upside down text, you’ll look for the letters that are either meant to represent upside down characters, or at least look like them. So for instance, you can write the T character upside down by substituting one character for another:
You’ll see this character in the list over on Wikipedia, and you’ll notice that there’s a code next to it, in this case 0287 is the Unicode character code for the upside-down T.
You can use these upside-down characters in Word or most applications that have a richedit control by entering in that code and then hitting the Alt+X key combination. Note: you should be able to use the Alt+C key combination as well, but Alt+X seems to be more compatible.
Obviously this could end up being really tedious, but it’s interesting to learn how to do it, right?
Where Does This Work?
Creating upside down text on your own PC might be fun for about 10 seconds, but you’re probably wondering where you can use elsewhere. Since Unicode text is not properly supported by all applications, it’s not going to always work in your instant messenger client—though you are welcome to test it out and let us know in the comments.
Where it does work quite well is most web sites like Twitter, Facebook, etc. This is because web browsers generally support UTF-8 or Unicode natively, as the web depends on those encoding formats.
Generate Your Own Upside Down Text
Since creating upside down text the manual way is clearly going to be very, very tedious, we’ve put together a simple generator that makes the text for you. It doesn’t work perfectly, but it does work alright. Note: the generator currently only does lower case, so it’s going to convert whatever you write into lower case before making it upside down.
Just put your text into the box, then hit the “Make it Upside Down” button. Once you’re done, you can copy and paste the text into some web site—soon all your Facebook friends are going to be very confused.
Want to try something new today? Have you seen someone trying to make you wonder you are holding your phone upside down? Guess what, try saying something to your friends and loved ones in upside down text messages and make them hold their phones upside down to read it. Sounds impressive, eh? Sending funny messages would be even funnier that way.
Don’t know how to type upside down text messages on iPhone? I have shown you how to type upside down text on Android phones and now it’s time for iPhones. As told earlier, the upside down texts are special Unicode characters that look like inverted texts. To make things more exciting, send any type of messages you want and enjoy with your friends. Now go back to your favorite messaging app like iMessage, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook or any other and paste the copied text from the clipboard.
- To do that, press and hold in the text area until the Paste option appears.
- Tap Paste to send the message.
- Sit back and enjoy.

How To Make – Microsoft Word
Printing Upside-down Text
Some printing projects require text to be printed both right side-up and upside-down on the same paper. There are several options you can try to achieve the upside-down printing. For more information please consult with Microsoft.
The easiest solution is to simply put your paper through the printer twice, once for the right side-up text and once for the upside-down text. Of course, you would have to rotate the paper by 180 degrees for each printing pass.
If the information you have to print upside down is short, you could use WordArt. Your text is actually saved in your document as a graphics object, which Word allows you to rotate freely. The drawback with this option is the WordArt does not give you the range of text control that Word does, and it is not meant to be used with large selections of text.
Another option is to create your text in a different application (example: create a fully rotated text object using PowerPoint) and then insert it into the template as an object.
Finally, if you have access to a graphics program, such as Paint Shop Pro, you could also try these steps:
1. Within Word, type and format your text as you want it.
2. Select the text you want to be upside down.
3. Press CTRL+C to copy the text to the Clipboard.
4. Switch to Paint Shop Pro and press CTRL+V. The Meta Picture Import dialog box appears.
5. Click on OK. Your text now appears as a graphic image within PSP.
6. Press CTRL+R to display the Rotate dialog box.
7. In the dialog box, choose 180.
8. Click on OK. Your text is now upside down.
9. Press CTRL+C. This copies the graphic image back to the Clipboard.
10. Switch to the Word Template and press CTRL+V. The graphic image (which is your text) appears in the Template. Now you can position your upside-down text. Of course, if you want to make changes to the upside-down text, you will have to redo all these steps. This is because the upside-down text is not really text, but a graphic image. These same general steps will work with most other graphics programs (such as Paint).

How to make the text inside Text Box upside down?
How can I turn the text inside the Text Box upside down?
Example, I want to put in text “ABCDEFG” into the text box, but I want to
rotate it to 180 degree, to make it upside down.
Re: How to make the text inside Text Box upside down?
You put your textbox in an out of the way spot (a different worksheet. )
Then put whatever you want in that textbox.
Select the text box
Select the real location
Rotate the picture
This is a static picture of your textbox. If you change the textbox, the
picture doesn’t change.
Make the cells surrounding the textbox very small (just barely noticeable)
Select those cells (that include the textbox)
Select the new location
Shift-Edit|Paste Picture Link
Rotate the picture
This is a “hot” picture. If the textbox gets updated, so does the picture.
