Enable or Disable Night Light in Windows 10

Method 1: Enable or Disable Night Light in Windows 10 Settings
1.Press Windows Key + I to open Settings then click on System.
2.Now from the left-hand menu click on Display.
3.Under Brightness and color turn on the toggle for the Night light in order to Enable it, or turn off the toggle to disable Night light.
4.Once you enable the night light you can easily configure it, just click on “Night light settings” under the above toggle.
5.Select the color temperature at night using the bar, if you will move the bar towards the left side then it will make your screen look warmer.
6.Now if you don’t want to manually enable or disable night light then you can schedule night light to kick in automatically.
7.Under Schedule night light turn on the toggle to enable.
8.Next, if you want to use night light from sunset to sunrise then use the first option, otherwise select “Set hours” and configure the time for which you want to use the night light.
9.If you need to enable night light feature immediately then under Night light settings click on “Turn on now“.
10.Also, if you need to disable night light feature immediately then click on “Turn off now“.
11.Once done, close settings then restart your PC to save changes.
Method 2: Unable to Enable or Disable Night Light feature
If you are unable to enable or disable night light feature in Windows 10 Settings because the Night Light settings are greyed out then follow the below steps:
1.Press Windows Key + R then type regedit and hit Enter to open Registry Editor.

How to adjust Night Light color temperature
The intensity of the warm color of Night Light can be adjusted as you wish. While warmer colors are “healthier”, keeping blue colors would give you more accurate visual information.
1. To adjust the color temperature, right-click on the Night Light and then Go to Settings.
2. You will see a Windows settings layout, in the Color section, click the Night Light Settings.
3. Drag to the left to reduce the effect and drag to the right to increase the color temperature. The default state is 50.
Night Light will remains active for all apps, including video games you may run. If you want to exclude certain programs from gets filtered, you may want to try f.lux — a similar app like Night Light but with a lot more features.
By default, Night Light will set to be enabled at night. But you can turn off the Schedule settings and keep it running all day.
I personally always keep it on since I found it reduces eye fatigue and helps me fall asleep at the right time.

How to manually turn on night light
Instead of setting a schedule for night light, you can simply turn it on manually.

There is also a new Action Center button that lets you manually turn on night light.

Click Night light.
To turn it off from the Action Center, simply click the night light button again.
How to schedule night light
If you’d rather not turn night light on and off manually, you can set a schedule. For the automatic schedule, location services must be enabled on your PC. Don’t want to enable location services? You can set your own schedule.
- Right-click the Start button.
- Click Settings.
Click System.
Click Night light settings.
Click Set hours.
Set a time to turn on.
Click the field below Turn off.
Click the checkmark when you’re satisfied with a time.
How to change the color temperature of night light
If you find that the color isn’t quite right when night light is enabled, you can change the temperature.
