How to let yoga make 2008 your best year ever!

Are you looking for ways to make your everyday life better? Incorporating yoga into your routine is a great way to do so. Yoga offers many benefits to individuals of all ages and lifestyles. Today, we’ll share with you five ways in which regular yoga practice can make your life better:

Having anxiety is quite common, but you can take steps to lessen the anxiety that you feel. You can even fight anxiety naturally, and yoga is one exercise that can help you do just that. Mayo Clinic suggests that yoga can reduce stress and anxiety, and even help those with chronic anxiety or depression. Taking part in yoga can allow you to live a more comfortable and happy life.

Are you looking to make positive physical changes to your body? Yoga does a lot more than increase flexibility. With repeated practice, you can improve muscle strength and tone throughout your body. This can make you stronger, but can also make you look better, too!

3. Improve Your Sleep

If you’re struggling to fall asleep or feel you don’t get enough sleep, you may be looking for a natural solution. Once you get into a regular yoga routine, your sleep can improve greatly. The National Yoga Foundation notes that yoga can help you fall asleep faster, sleep for longer time periods and even fall asleep more quickly after waking up in the middle of the night.

4. Improve Your Heart Health

Yoga can also benefit your heart, as your blood pressure and heart rate can be lowered with regular practice. Johns Hopkins Medicine notes that yoga can help to prevent or manage heart disease. If you have a history of heart disease, it may be worth talking to a doctor about incorporating yoga into your routine.

5. Improve Self-Esteem

If you’re particularly hard on yourself, your negative self-thinking can carry through different parts of your life. Making changes that allow you to treat yourself well can give you a better look at life and allow you to feel more at ease. Yoga Journal suggests that yoga practice can allow you to have less judgment about your body.

How to let yoga make 2008 your best year ever!

It’s coming up on that time of year again. You know, the time where you seriously commit to the same resolution that you seriously committed to last year… before life got in the way and it evaporated into thin air.

Depending on who you ask, up to 85% percent of all New Year’s resolutions involved some element of lifestyle change, be it weight loss, exercise, better nutrition, improved life-balance or more sleep. And, of those, nearly 50% have been broken by the end of January, while 90% bite the dust by June.

Problem is, just saying you want to do something isn’t enough to make it happen. You need to literally sell yourself on the need to make it happen, then create a plan and set up a support and accountability structure.

Selling is an art form, even when we’re selling ourselves.

This is especially true when the actions that would lead to the result being sold are viewed as unpleasant, i.e., exercise and diet. So, let’s take a lesson from legendary master of persuasion and 7-figure copywriter and marketer, Dan Kennedy.

In his book, The Ultimate Sale Letter, Dan reveals a highly-effective 3-step sales process:

  1. Problem: Identify the problem or need that is not being satisfied
  2. Agitate: Stir up the problem to make it more present, more inflamed, more painful and more in need of immediate resolution
  3. Solve: Present a solution, a way out of the pain

It’s pretty easy to see how this 3-step process might work when trying to sell someone else, but we can also use it to sell ourselves on actions that we often view as unpleasant in the name of losing weight, getting fit, de-stressing, improving our health or just being able to do more with our lives.

Here’s how to sell yourself on lifestyle change:

  • Problem: Rather than just resolving to change some behavior or accomplish some goal, take a step back and define the problem that you are trying to solve by accomplishing your goal or resolution. Put another way, ask what’s important about achieving your goal/resolution or what’s wrong that you’re trying to fix. For example you might want to:
    • Rebuild your confidence – you feel bad about yourself when you look in a mirror and want to feel better.
    • Get off medication – high blood pressure is making you feel sick and the medication you take to control it kills your energy.
    • Recapture your inner-calm – stress is making you so anxious, you’re on medication to control it.
    • Get horny – don’t want to have sex anymore because you feel so self-conscious about your body.
  • Agitate: Once you’ve gone past a general desire to attain a result and defined the problem that the result will fix, it’s time to drill-down a bit and do some agitating. This is not the most-enjoyable process, because, when it comes to lifestyle change, it almost always requires you to do two unpleasant things: (1) face the present as it truly is and (2) visualize the future, should you stay on your current course. For many, neither is an appealing exploration. So, rather than agitating the problem, we do the exact opposite and avoid or minimize it so we don’t feel uncomfortable. The problem is that it is this very process of agitation and discomfort that serves as a huge motivation to take action. It brings our pain to the surface and gives us the opportunity to take action to remove ourselves from it. Looking at our first example above, we’d build on our disgust looking in the mirror and ask two more questions:
    • First, we’d ask the ‘what’s important’ question again to try to get to a deeper motivating force. In fact, we might ask it a few times until the motivational onion is fully peeled.
    • Then, we’d ask what our lives will look like 5, 10, 15, 20 years down the road should we choose not to make any changes.
    • Take the time to write out your answers in as much detail as possible.
  • Solve: This is where we finally get back to your original resolution, recommit to a specific goal and then take the step that almost nobody takes: make a plan of action. Take out a calendar, choose a start date and write down the exact actions you will take every day for the first 30-days to make your goal your reality. If you need help with this step, get it. Items on that plan might include joining a gym, seeing a nutritionist, hiring a trainer, finding a therapist or joining a team. Then, tell someone close to you about goal, the underlying reasons for it and your plan. Give them a copy of your plan and get their commitment to ask you about it every day for 30-days to provide a level of accountability.

Using the classic three-step method to sell yourself not only on lifestyle change, but on the very actions that will create it is a powerful step in making this year’s resolutions different than next year’s.

As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts, ideas and additions in the comments below.

Practicing Yoga to Relieve the Stress of the Holidays

Are you feeling a little stressed this holiday season? Yoga offers a simple antidote. .

This year, what do you want to achieve? Are there things about you and your life you have been wanting to change? Most of us answer a definite YES to this…I know I did. Thinking of too many things at once can be overwheming. So what’s 1 or 2 things you want to change but have been putting off? Maybe it’s to stop smoking…lose weight…or perhaps communicate with someone you’ve had a falling out with.

Now ask yourself (or better yet, write this down):
Why haven’t I taken action?
What pain have I associated with taking action?

Tony Robbins says to be honest with yourself when answering these questions. If you can’t think of pain associated with your disaction, then think harder. Maybe the pain is as simple as you’re too busy and just don’t have time. Boy do I personally use that one a lot!

Now let’s jot down the pleasure we linked to indulging in this negative cycle. Like, if your desired change is weight loss, why are you eating cakes, brownies, pizzas and guzzling them down with soda? Sure, you’re avoiding the pain of depriving yourself and at the same time eating those things is a form of instant gratification cause that sugar rush feels so good. That is until the crash hits.

I love how Tony goes on to say that if you want to create longterm change, you must find a new way to get a similar pleasure without negative consequences. That’s just one of the many ways I’ve been able to help my clients with their health and weight goals. We take it nice and slow and introduce small and easy changes over time…making adjustments as needed along the way. Diving all-in head first may seem like the best way, but so many people backslide from this. Be super careful here.

Next step is to jot down what it will cost you if you don’t start making positive changes now. What will happen if you don’t stop eating so much sugar and bad fats? If you don’t stop smoking? If you don’t make that call? If you don’t start working out?

Again, be honest with yourself.

What’s it going to cost you over the next 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on years? What will it cost you emotionally? What’s it going to cost with your self-esteem? Will it effect your relationships? Don’t just say it will cost money here. That’s not deep enough…Remember our emotions can drive us so we need to learn how to use pain as your new friend…one that can push us to a new level of success.

Lastly, jot down the pleasure you will receive by making each of these actions now. Make a huge list here to delve deep into those emotions that will really get you excited. Like, I’m gaining the feeling of really being in control of my life, of knowing that I’m in charge. I am more confident. I am feeling so much better. I am looking amazing. I am strengthening my relationships. I am love. I am prosperous. My life is better in all these ways now, next year, and several years down the road. It is important to envision the positive impacts both now and in the longterm. And don’t just envision them—feel them. Allow yourself to feel as though you’re already right where you want to be in life. Take note of just how amazing it feels and let that sink into your subconscious mind.

If you’d like help making some positive changes in your life, then come join me in my next 10-Day Gut Cleanse where you’ll learn more about intestinal health and how it effects your weight, explore all the various ways to get your gut healthy and balanced so you’re feeling amazing all the time, learn about how choosing to be happy can reduce your stress—and improve your health, find encouragement, great recipes, and education about nutrition and supplements for whole body health. Grow Your Business, Not Your Inbox

How to let yoga make 2008 your best year ever!

Feel stuck because you believe you can’t have the health, career, relationships, money or life that you deserve?

Convinced that something needs to change before you can experience a new level of living?

We’ve all felt this way at some point in our lives, but there are surprisingly simple steps you can take to pull yourself out of the muck and put the fun in 2021.

I recently interviewed Wendie Pett: naturopathic doctor, author, speaker, TV host, podcaster, wife, mother and creator of the Visibly Fit Program.

For over 20 years Wendie has taught women how to balance mind, body and spirit while transforming her own life in the process.

One of Pett’s biggest shifts started with volunteering. Initially, she was “giving back” out of obligation. It wasn’t until she met a gentleman named Ray that she realized the depth and impact of her contributions. Ray had dementia, and Pett helped him with meals and chores around the house. They also had long conversations and took walks together.

This selfless service had more of an impact on Wendie than it did on Ray. The experience humbled and elevated her to be more compassionate towards others rather than being judgmental or critical. Giving back catalyzed her biggest shift, personally and professionally, and has become a major part of Pett experiencing more joy and living her best life. It’s now the all-important final fix within the five steps she includes in this guide to placing 2020 within the rearview mirror. (And then running over said mirror with a Mack Truck.)

Forgive

To quote Marianne Williamson: “Forgiveness is not always easy. At times, it feels more painful than the wound we suffered, to forgive the one that inflicted it, and yet, there is no peace without forgiveness.”

Surrender
Accept that you are unable to control every tiny aspect of your life. The more you surrender to possibility, the happier you’ll be in the long run.

Accountability
Take accountability for your actions, words and feelings. While you can’t control every aspect of your life, you can control your reactions to situations. Stop blaming everyone else for your dissatisfaction.

Self-Love
You can’t take care of the people you love if you’re running on empty or going in a million directions at warp speed. This doesn’t mean a weekly manicure, either. Self-love can be reading a book, getting coffee with friends or going on a solo hike. Think of things that bring you peace and joy.

Give Back
Volunteer your time with a cause or person. Being of service is a win-win for everyone involved and can bring you more joy than you ever imagined.

Yoga is a non-competitive, non-judgmental form of mind/body exercise. Yoga works to develop strength, cultivate flexibility, tone muscles, improve balance and coordination. Yoga eliminates wastes and toxins from the body. Yoga also reduces stress and tension by soothing the central nervous system.

Yoga is totally subjective because everyone’s body is different; therefore, we honor the body and let go of the ego mind by concentrating on positive, harmonious thoughts. When we can learn to accept the body and lovingly respect it, the body will blossom like a flower, opening one petal at a time.

At Sundance Yoga Studio we use positive, supportive mental attitudes during our practice. We open ourselves to experience and express love, peacefulness and vibrant health in every posture.

I hope that you will make the choice of health and join us in our journey of personal growth.

Favorite quote from the author:

How to let yoga make 2008 your best year ever!

A couple of days ago I asked people on Facebook how their goals from the beginning of the year were going. Most answered with gifs about things on fire, as I had expected. It’s sad that most of us struggle to stick with our ambitions. We could be so much more and have better lives if we could only figure out how to follow-through.

It stays hard though because we keep trying the same old things that don’t work. As it’s been said, “insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

So what do you have to do to finally break through the cycle of failing at your goals?

That’s what Michael Hyatt is here to teach you in his book Your Best Year Ever: A 5-Step Plan for Achieving Your Most Important Goals . With his vast experience and historical knowledge, Hyatt will show you how achieving your dreams is not only possible but nearly inevitable if you do it the right way.

Here are 3 lessons from the book that we should take a closer look at for success:

  1. It’s good to work on multiple areas of your life at the same time as long as you choose them wisely because they build on each other.
  2. Find a happy medium between goals that stretch you and ones that aren’t too difficult.
  3. To make your chances of making your dreams happen skyrocket, team up with a partner or group to help you.

Are you looking forward to having Your Best Year Ever ? Let’s get right to it and see how to make it happen!

Lesson 1: Choose what areas of life to work on wisely and your efforts will multiply across many different categories.

The best place to begin is to find out where you’d like to be a year from now. What does an outstanding year look like to you? To find out, simply journal about the answer to that question. Write freely and don’t edit or hold back.

You might find that there are a lot of things you’d like to accomplish in a lot of different categories. We all want to be fit, have a good family, be free of debt, and many other things. Well, Hyatt teaches you that it’s possible to have all of it!

Just focus on ten aspects of life:

  • Spirituality
  • Marriage & Partnerships
  • Parenting
  • Friendships
  • Intellectual Life
  • Personal Finances
  • Work
  • Mental Health
  • Physical Health
  • Hobbies

First, rate how you’re doing in each of these categories from zero to ten. This will show you what you’re already good at and where you need to improve. You can use the strengths you see to help you get the weaknesses where you want them.

Now, recognize how each of these categories affects the others and you’ll see how you don’t need to be overwhelmed by them all.

You’ll become more productive at work, for example, if things are good in your relationships and at home. And your opportunities of meeting your future spouse improve as you work on your friendships. Find the few things that will make the biggest impact on everything else and focus on those.

Lesson 2: Set your goals high but not so lofty that they discourage you.

I love talking with people about their goals. One thing I hear often is that they feel their goals are too much, that they’re unattainable. I always tell people that those kind of goals are good if you plan them correctly.

It’s a difficult balance to set our sights high while at the same time not being unreasonable with ourselves. You need to know your own current capabilities and plan within those. But also make sure that you’re working on things that require significant effort.

If you want to write a book, for example, you’re not going to be a Nobel Prize winner if it’s your first. Looking at such a lofty goal is a recipe for disaster because it can stop you from even beginning at all. This is known as the delusional zone .

On the other hand, if you give yourself too long to finish your book, you’re more likely to give up when things get boring.

The sweet spot for your goals and plans is what Hyatt calls the discomfort zone. It’s that place where you’re just outside of your comfort zone enough that you’re going to grow, but not too far that the difficulty pushes you away.

To find this perfect middle ground, ask yourself if the goal is attainable for where you’re at, but make sure it makes you a little uncomfortable.

Lesson 3: Get a team or partner if you want your chances of success to rise significantly.

Last year I was struggling to figure out a good pattern of productivity after beginning to work for myself. At the recommendation of a friend, I hired a coach to help me stay accountable. My rate of progress quickly improved like I hadn’t ever imagined possible.

It’s sad how often we sit there, struggling through by trying to figure things out on our own. Especially when there are loads of people who have been through what we’re doing and can show us the way! And they’re usually more than happy to help us, too.

Not only that, but there are also dozens of people right around us that are probably also working on the same things. All we need to do is find them.

If I told you that I wanted to get good at playing the piano, what would you tell me? You’d say I should get a piano teacher, right?

It seems obvious in terms of learning music, but it’s a little harder to accept hiring a coach to help us with learning how to live well. Once we do, however, everything in our lives improves rapidly.

They can see things that we need to improve and ways to do it that would have taken us years to figure out on our own!

Your Best Year Ever Review

Your Best Year Ever is one of my new favorite books. The advice it gives is simple, new, and highly actionable. I think this is going to be the one that helps you finally start sticking with your goals!

Who would I recommend the Your Best Year Ever summary to?

The 19-year-old who wants to become a better person but isn’t sure how, the 40-year-old who is tired of living the same old life and wants to finally change, and anyone that feels like they lose motivation quickly and has a hard time following through with their goals.

How to let yoga make 2008 your best year ever!

The new year has arrived – a clean slate and a new start. This is an opportunity for many people to step back from their businesses and take a good look at what is working, what is not working and where do they want to go. So, are you ready to make 2010 your breakout year ever and explode your bank account?

I’m going to share with you the strategies and a roadmap to use for setting your goals and creating your vision. I learned these on a training call with one of my personal mentors, Norbert Orlewicz, a true leader, coach, visionary and a very successful network marketer. These strategies work as Norbert used them to build his 7-figure business in just a couple of years, after struggling in network marketing for 6 years!

A fact is, success doesn’t happen by accident and you can’t simply sit back and wish for it to happen. I often hear aspiring network marketers say: “I hope this works for me”. The truth is, it probably wont, because if you’re hoping something will work for you, you’re leaving it up to some chance or “magic” to become successful. Unfortunately that’s not going to happen:-(

Setting goals is the key to your success. Period. And there is a lot more that goes into achieving your goals than just writing them on a piece of paper.

Here are the strategies:

1. Creating A Vision In 2010

This is more than just setting your goals and it’s very important as it will determine your success. You need to get connected to your ‘WHY’ and keep reminding yourself WHY you are doing what you’re doing. This is your vision, mission and driving force. If your ‘WHY’ is big enough, then you’ll figure out the ‘HOW’.

In network marketing, just like in any other industry, you’ll encounter obstacles and challenges and you would have to embrace that if you want to be successful. So, if your WHY is not big enough, then you’ll feel sorry for yourself, crumble and go back to your comfort zone. “Don’t wish it was easier, wish you were better. Don’t wish for less problems, wish for more skills. Don’t wish for less challenges, wish for more wisdom”

2. Begin With Where You’re At

This is when you review and reflect on the previous year to see what has worked, what didn’t, what were your successes, failures, good and bad decisions. It’s very important that you do this and think about how you can improve.

You also need to begin in gratitude. And this can be a challenge if things are not going well in your business – you may be frustrated, stressed and desperate to see your desired results. So, when you’re setting your goals in that state, you’re in a place of need and desperation. And that’s not a great place to be in if you want to create abundance. You must practice living in abundance. You have to decide in your mind that you’re successful and do the things that successful people do.

3. Design Your Life

Goal-setting is important for every aspect of your life, not only for your business – relationships, family, emotional, mental, physical, spiritual, career and financial. So, you need to set goals and create a vision for your entire life. Think about the things that you want to achieve in life and focus on them. In my experience, they will be on your mind all the time. The key to having success in your life and in your business, is to know exactly what you want and stick to it. Many people try different opportunities, ideas and systems and quit when things don’t work out.

4. Work On Yourself

Most people work on their goals and successful people work on themselves. You see a goal is an effect and the cause is YOU. The issue is not your debts, your marriage, your business and so on, the issue is YOU. You must work harder on YOURSELF through personal development, than on your business. Ask yourself: “What do I have to BECOME to achieve my goals?” So, you need to focus on improving yourself, your attitude and skills and everything else in your life will improve.

Do you visualise the things that you want in life? Make this a part of your life, create images of what you want to achieve and think about them all the time. Begin to act as if you already have what you want. Start acting like you’re already successful, then your daily activities will show that you are.

6. Take Massive Action

For every goal that you have set, you need to have clear action steps with deadlines. You need to implement right away, build a momentum and have a sense of urgency in what you do. Do you have the burning desire to succeed? “If you greatly desire something, have the guts to stake everything on obtaining it”.

These strategies will change your life and business in ways you could never imagine!

Are you the type of person who believes that there aren’t enough hours in the day to get work done?

Do you wish you were more productive and had more time throughout your day?

There’s a huge difference between a productive person and a non-productive person.Someone who is productive has worked to become that way. They’ve done the necessary things to stay efficient with their time.

1. Create productive habits

Creating good time management practices doesn’t mean filling your day with more tasks, but instead limiting what you do to certain things to simplify your life.

Instead of working hard, you can work smarter.

Here are tips for better time management:

  • time blocking
  • creating a calendar ahead of time of your day, week, and month
  • answer emails only once a day
  • use social media only at night for a limited amount of time

2. Productivity Planner

A productivity planner is such a simple yet effective way to get all of your tasks done on time.

The Panda Planner uses a scientific approach to keep people productive and happy in life.

What I love most about this planner is how customizable it is.

So, instead of buying a planner that starts in January, you can use this planner at any time of the year since you have the ability to write in the month and days in the planner.

The planner also helps with prioritizing your tasks and keeps you accountable.

On the first page of the planner, there is information that gives you access to 6 different ebooks as well as a video series to help you hit your goals.

A couple of these include:

  • How to Cure Procrastination
  • A Billionaire’s Top 5 Productivity Secrets
  • Acess to a video mini-course that will 10x your productivity

3. Eat The Frog

If you have a daunting task on your to-do list, make sure to complete it first thing in the morning.

This will give you peace of mind since you’ll have the hardest task over for the day.

Procrastinating and waiting until the very end of the day to complete the hardest task on your to-do list is a bad idea for several reasons.

  • You’ll most likely be thinking about the task all day, leading you to veer off from the other tasks you’re doing
  • Motivation is usually lost throughout the day, meaning you’ll keep procrastinating and wait until the very last minute to complete the project

In order to “Eat the frog” break down your large project into several tasks.

Oftentimes people are dreading a task because it is so large and difficult to start.

4. Track your online time

If you work online, it can be incredibly easy to get off track.

Social media is only a click away, making it almost too easy to check Facebook, Pinterest, and other websites that can be wasted on for hours.

Rescuetime is an awesome app that will basically give you an audit of your day and tell you where you’re spending your time.

It may seem that you’re putting 7 hours toward work, but after the audit, some may notice they’ve spent 2 hours on social media.

5. Turn off social media

If you end up realizing that you’re wasting time on your computer on a social media website like Facebook, there is one thing you can do to completely block out the desire to check your newsfeed.

Facebook Eradicator is a plugin that completely blocks out your newsfeed.

Instead of seeing your newsfeed when you check your Facebook on a desktop, you’ll see one motivating quote in place of the newsfeed.

I’ve been using this plugin for over 1 month now and it’s been a gamechanger in my productivity habits.

6. Block out time for yourself

When it comes down to it, most people do not give themselves enough time to do things for themselves.

What do you enjoy doing most?

It’s crucial to stay active in hobbies that make you happy.

This can help ensure that you do not experience burnout from work or unsatisfaction with your life.

Find a physical hobby that you genuinely enjoy.

If you don’t like lifting weights, try out rock climbing, hiking, or volunteer at a shelter and walk dogs.

The time you block out for yourself needs to be used by doing something that makes you happy.

Bonus Tips:

  • Use canned responses when dealing with certain emails. For example, if someone is emailing me asking about rates for a service, I usually use a draft since I get so many of these emails.
  • See how much time you’re wasting on your phone with a free service like Moment. After noticing I was on Facebook a lot, I downloaded Moment on my phone and noticed I was spending way too many hours each day on my phone.
  • Use a planner that is customizable and ditch your procrastination habits
