Your AirPods Pro come with three sizes of ear tips. The medium size comes already attached, and small and large sizes are in the box that your AirPods Pro came in, under the tray, nested inside the charging cable. To check the size of an ear tip, unroll its edge and look for S, M, or L etched on the inside of the ear tip near its base.

Try inserting the AirPods with the medium-sized ear tips in your ears so that the AirPods are seated comfortably and securely. If you can’t get a good seal, try adjusting the AirPod or switch to a larger ear tip. If the ear tip feels too large in your ear or is uncomfortable, try a smaller ear tip.

You can buy a new set of ear tips from the Apple Online Store, Apple Store, or other authorized retailer.

Apple AirPods

AirPods offers a cord-free wireless audio experience with up to 5 hours of battery life. They are rechargeable through the included case that get you up to 24 hours on a single charge. AirPods 2 and AirPods Pro support wireless (Qi) charging, Hey Siri, and include the H1 chip.

Rubber-tipped earbuds have been around for years. In most cases, however, they all come in a single size — and if that size doesn’t fit your ears, you’re out of luck.

Apple developed a solution with AirPods Pro. Each pair of AirPods Pro comes with three different sets of rubber ear tips, each one a different size. This means that you can adjust them to better fit your individual ear shape. You can even take a free test to see which size suits you best.

However, it’s not entirely obvious how you remove the tips when you want to change them out. Luckily, it’s not as hard as it seems.

Here’s how to change the ear tips on your AirPods when you want to change or clean them.

How to change your AirPod Pro ear tips

It shouldn’t take much effort to remove the tips on your AirPods. You should always remove them if you’re going to clean the tips or the earbuds themselves.

1. To remove your AirPods Pro’s ear tips, pinch your fingers on either side of the rubber insert firmly.

2. As you pinch, pull the tip straight away from the AirPod until it clicks off. This will take some force, but don’t worry, it won’t break them. If you’re concerned about ripping the rubber, invert the tip (as shown below) before you begin.

3. Choose a new pair of ear tips from the box — Small, Medium, or Large.

  • The tips that come attached to your AirPod Pro earbuds when you first open the box are the Medium size. If you find that they frequently fall out of your ears, try going down a size — if they hurt or irritate your ears, try going up.
  • A simple side-by-side comparison should tell you which tips are the Large and which are the Small, but if you ever mix them up, the associated letter is printed on the inside of each tip, near the base.

4. To attach the new pair of tips, line up the oval on the edge of the tip with the oval on the AirPod’s speaker, and gently press the tip in until it clicks into place.

How to use the AirPod Ear Tip Fit Test to find the best ear tips

It can be difficult to determine which ear tips are right for you. If the feel alone isn’t enough for you to make a decision, you can try the Ear Tip Fit Test. To run the test, your iPhone needs to be running iOS 13.2 or later.

1. Put your AirPod Pros in your ears and open the Settings app on your device.

2. Tap ” Bluetooth ,” which should appear high up on the Settings menu.

3. Find your AirPods Pro on the list of Bluetooth devices and tap the “i” info icon to the right.

4. On the AirPod Settings page, scroll down and tap “Ear Tip Fit Test.”

5. Tap “Continue,” then tap the “Play” button when you’re ready to begin the test. Your phone will play a few seconds of music through the AirPods to determine the quality of the seal between a given headphone and your ear.

If it determines that the seal is tight and allows for adequate noise cancellation, then the image of the AirPod on your screen will say “Good Seal” in green underneath. If not, it will turn yellow instead, and read “Adjust or Try a Different Ear Tip.”

Note that it’s possible to get “Good Seal” results from all of the ear tips, regardless of which one is the most comfortable. The test is a good indicator of whether a given tip doesn’t fit in your ear at all, but if it determines that any of the three form a good enough seal, you’ll have to make your judgement based solely on comfort.

If the AirPods Pro don’t fit in your ears, or maybe they’re just not comfortable, all might not be in vain.

If Apple’s AirPods Pro don’t fit in your ears, or maybe they’re just not comfortable, all might not be in vain. That’s because Comply, the well-known maker of those cushy foam eartips, has finally released its own eartips for the AirPods Pro.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

The Comply eartips naturally fit more securely in your ear than the stock silicone eartips that come with most earbuds, including the AirPods Pro. They’re also better at passive noise-isolation, so the AirPods Pro are likely to sound a little better with Comply eartips. (There’s no word on if or how the Comply eartips will affect the AirPods Pro’s Ear Tip Fit Test.)

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

These Comply tips are available in three sizes — small, medium and large — and they’re specifically designed for Apple’s AirPods.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

These Comply eartips for AirPods Pro can be purchased in three sizes, or you can purchase an assorted pack of all three sizes, in case you don’t know your size.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

These Comply eartips are designed to fit most in-ear headphones and wireless earbuds.

You can buy a pack of three pairs for $25 and they can be purchased in three different sizes (small, medium, large) or you can purchase a three-pack with one of each size. If you do buy these Comply tips, a good thing to know is that your AirPods Pro will still fit into their charging case and charge. The downside is that the Comply eartips only come in black, so they might look a little odd.

Of course eartips aren’t the only AirPods Pro accessories worth investing in. A set of earhooks will go a long way to helping buds stay in your ears more securely while you are running, working out, or engaging in other intense physical activity. And while it may be nerdy, a bud-connecting next strap can be a terrific piece of kit that allows you to keep your buds together and hang them from you neck when you want to, without having to have them attached to each other all the time.

Apple AirPods Pro earbuds are trendy because of its noise cancelation and transparency sound capabilities. These functions are greatly enhanced when you use correctly sized tips. To assist you with sizing, the AirPods Pro comes with a choice of small, medium, and large silicone ear tips.

The iPhone maker also offers an Ear Tip Fit Test to help you achieve the best possible sound quality and noise cancellation. The test, which is available on your iPhone once it’s linked to your AirPods Pro, isn’t perfect. It often fails. Luckily, there are some troubleshooting tips you can use to receive a positive result once again.

AirPods Pro

A worthy upgrade for anyone who wants a perfect Apple accessory that has a much better listening experience — especially when you’re on the go.

Fixing the test

As we previously noted, the AirPods Pro Ear Tip Fit Test is designed to ensure you have the best seal possible for each earbud. To get a successful test on each earbud, you must first make sure you have the correct sized ear tips in place. A good rule is if the ear tip feels too large in your ear or is uncomfortable, try a smaller ear tip, and so forth.

Test the different tips

Don’t be surprised if you’re ear sizes are different. In other words, you might have to use a different sized tip for each ear. After hours of trying to get the right fit for my AirPods Pro, I figured out that I needed a larger tip for my left ear.

Move the tips around your ears

If changing the tip sizes doesn’t give you a positive Ear Tip Fit Test, start moving the tips around inside your ears, then do another test. I’ve noticed the more vertical the buds inside my ears, the better. You can order new ear tips on the Apple website.

Push them in further

Source: iMore

If you’re convinced the size of your ear tips is correct, but you still get a bad test result, try pushing the tips into your ears more during a test. If you then get good test results, the tips were probably too small, so you should swap them out with larger tips and try again.

Time to clean

If you still can’t get a positive test result, it’s time to begin cleaning each earbud. To do so, you should follow Apple’s guidelines.

  • Don’t run AirPods or AirPods Pro underwater.
  • Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth that’s lightly dampened with fresh water.
  • Allow them to dry before placing them in the charging case.
  • Do not attempt to use them until they are completely dry.
  • Make sure not to get any liquid in the openings.
  • Clean the microphone and speaker meshes with a dry cotton swab.
  • Don’t use sharp objects or abrasive materials to clean your AirPods or AirPods Pro.

Of the suggestions below, I’ve found the most success by cleaning the speaker meshes. Unfortunately, ear wax builds up on the earbuds and can affect the seal.

Reset and repeat

Are you still having problems? You can reset your AirPods and see if that helps.

Contact Apple, return them

Source: iMore

As a last resort, you can contact Apple Support and ask about getting a new pair under the one-year limited warranty. Be sure to follow the previous suggestions first before contacting Apple. The support representative will want to know which troubleshooting tips you’ve tried before offering a return and replacement.

How Does the AirPods Ear Tip Fit Test Work?

Unlike previous generation AirPods, ‌AirPods Pro‌ come with three sizes of silicone tips for a customizable fit. These tips help to form a seal appropriate for optimizing the audio experience and the noise cancelling and Transparency modes, so it’s important that you choose the right size tip for your ears.

The Ear Tip Fit Test is designed to help you with that, by testing the quality of the seal and identifying the best ear tip size for you. After placing ‌AirPods Pro‌ in each ear and running the test, algorithms work together with the microphones in each AirPod to measure the sound level in the ear and compare it to what’s coming from the speaker driver.

The algorithm detects whether the ear tip is the right size and has a good fit, or should be adjusted to create a better seal. Here’s how to perform the test.

How to Run the AirPods Pro Ear Tip Fit Test

  1. Allow your AirPods to connect to your iPhone or iPad in the usual way, by opening the case next to your device and inserting the buds in your ears.
  2. Launch the Settings app on your iOS device.
  3. Tap Bluetooth.
  4. Under My Devices, tap the information icon (the circled “i”) next to ‌AirPods Pro‌ in the list.

  • Tap Ear Tip Fit Test.
  • Tap Continue.

  • Make sure you’re wearing both AirPods, then press the blue Play button at the bottom of the screen.
  • Check your Ear Tip Fit results under the corresponding left and right AirPod images. A good seal is shown in green, while a sub-optimal seal shows up in yellow.
  • Tap Done.
  • If you get a yellow result for an AirPod, adjust the earbud or try a different ear tip, then run the test again to see if it’s been fixed.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

Apple has created a cool new feature in AirPods Pro called Ear Tip Fit Test, which helps users identify the best ear tips size for them. This feature uses microphones inside the AirPods, and sound output from the drivers, and uses algorithms to suggest if the fit is right or whether you need to change the tip.

Why do you need to use this the ear tip fit test? A better fit will provide better sound quality, deeper bass and rich lows for your music, along with the best noise cancellation, because the feature helps to create the best seal with the right ear tip size.

Unlike features like active noise cancellation and transparency mode, which can be enabled from any platform that the AirPods Pro are connected to, Ear Tip Fit Test only works from iOS or iPadOS devices. Here is how you can use it to get the best experience out of your AirPods Pro (or AirPod Pros?).

Use Ear Tip Fit Test to Select The Best AirPods Pro Ear Tips Size

AirPods Pro ship with three different in-ear tip sizes. This helps in customizing them for the right fit for each ear shape. Apple has also considered that some people might require different ear tip sizes for each ear, and the app also helps to identify such situations.

Make sure that the AirPods Pro are already connected to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch before proceeding.

    1. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and tap on the ‘i’ icon next to your AirPods Pro.How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

    3. Tap Continue on the first screen. How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro
    4. Place the AirPods in your ears and press the play button. How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods proThe test will start and check each AirPod.How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods proOnce the test is complete, the app will tell you if both AirPods are using the right ear tips and create a good fit. It will say ‘Good seal’ in such a case. If it does not, try a different size, until you get the right one. The app will also recognize and notify you if it sees that you need different ear tip sizes for both ears, for the best fit.How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

Even though the test app, and the small size of AirPods Pro, make this process seem very simple, it is far from it. Using complex algorithms and internal microphones, Apple provides a quick and easy way to help you get the best out of your AirPods.

These ear tips help your AirPods stay put, whether you’re bringing them along for a run or just want to upgrade to a more comfortable fit

AirPods might be one size, but not all ears are created equal. There’s nothing more annoying than listening to music and having to stop mid-song to pick up a fallen earbud. Purchasing ear hooks or ear tips can help elevate that frustration. From hooks that anchor to your ears to memory foam tips that reduce outside noise, below are our picks for the best AirPod ear tips.

What Makes the Best Earbud Tips?

Finding the right earbud tip for you depends on both the size of your ears and the way you prefer to wear your buds. Here’s what to keep in mind.

Hooks: Ear tips can come with or without a hook. Some might prefer to have a hook since it doesn’t go into your ear canal. It also provides more security for your earbuds since they are hooked around the outside of the ear.

Sound Quality: You probably purchased your AirPods because you want high-quality sound and you might worry that adding more accessories could stifle it. The best ear tips will still provide good sound and can also offer some noise-cancellation.

Material: Some materials can be more comfortable than others. Most ear tips come with either silicone or memory foam — which is a lot easier on the ear than plastic. Material is also important if you’re also looking for something that molds to your ear canal rather than hooking on the outside of your ear.

    1. AhaStyle 2 Pairs AirPods Ear Hook Tips

You get two for the price of one with this set since it comes with a small and a large option. Made of silicone, these hooks latch onto the inner part of your ear just above the ear canal. This pair is all about sound quality enhancement and boasts passive noise reduction with an improved bass sound.

The best part is that they come with a silicone case for storage (since they can’t stay on the AirPods while charging) and come in either black or white.

    2. EarBuddyz Ultra Ear Hooks

If you want more options, this set comes with a small, medium and large size. These buds boast a secure fit and improved noise isolation. They also slip right onto the top of your ‘Pods and have all the necessary sensor cut outs so you don’t have to worry about any AirPod features being muffled. They can’t stay on your AirPods while they charge, though. Luckily, they come with a stash pocket to store them.

    3. CharJenPro AirFoams Pro

Not everyone wants silicone tips or a hook to wrap around their ear, so the AirFoams Pro are another good choice. Made with memory foam, this accessory comfortably replaces the silicone that comes on the AirPod Pros.

Though they only work on one type of Apple device, some positives to these tips is that they’re pain-free and prevent wax buildup on the earpieces. They can also be left on when you’re charging your pods in their charging case.

    4. OneCut Silicone Ear Tips

Ear tips can be easy to lose and sometimes it’s better to have quantity over quality. These simple hooks come in a pack of five and slip right over your AirPods or any pair of regular earbuds. They’re durable, lightweight and made of medical-grade silicone.

If you’re using your buds to listen to music while you workout, this option won’t fall out, even during vigorous activity. Plus, they come in a bunch of fun colors like red, blue, pink and mint green, so you’ll never mix up your earbuds at the gym.

Tip: make sure that you grab the base of the ear tip, right where the ear tip is attached to the Airpod.
    2. Pull firmly until the ear tip pops out.
    Attach:
    1. Align the ear tip with the AirPod connector.
    2. Bring your fingers at the base of the ear tip and push it into the connector until it clicks into place.

Lost your AirPod tips again? Good news – Apple has quietly added a listing for AirPods Pro ear tips to its online store.

Apple’s premium pair of wireless earbuds come with three ear tip options right out of the box: small, large and medium. But, what if you lose them? Chances are those spare pairs won’t fit nearly as snug in your ears as your preferred size.

Thankfully, Apple has just made replacing them a much easier process.

A listing titled ‘Airpods Pro Ear Tips – 2 sets‘ appeared on the online Apple Store yesterday. AirPods users can now pick up two sets of the small, medium or large ear tips for just £8. Interestingly, the ear tips cost just $7.99 in the US, meaning that Apple has once again ignored conversion rates for customers on this side of the Atlantic.

Obviously, there is no option to pick up your new tips from the Apple Store right now and deliveries everywhere seem to be suffering from delays, so don’t expect to get your new ear tips that day. Delivery estimates suggest that it will take four to five days for the replacements to arrive depending on whether you choose standard delivery or pay a little extra for express.

It isn’t entirely clear as to why Apple has decided to add the replacement tips to its store now.

In the past, clumsy AirPods users have been forced to go through Apple Support to get their hands on new tips so it may be that Apple is trying to take pressure off its support service with the Genius Bar in-store help desk temporarily closed for business.

“Apple support options are currently limited. Thank you for your patience and understanding”, warns the company on its main support page.

Trusted Reviews gave the AirPods Pro headphones four and a half stars. Max Parker wrote:

AirPods Pro are excellent earbuds and easy to recommend, especially if you’re deep in the iOS ecosystem. They sound great, are far more comfortable than competing headphones and the ANC is very effective. Add to that the typical AirPods feature like a strong connection and easy pairing and you’ve got a very complete product.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

The AirPods Pro is one of Apple’s many sophisticated accessories. They come with impressive features and cost $249. Now, imagine $249 falling off your ears. Quite unsightly. To prevent this from happening, you should know how to wear the AirPods Pro properly.

Apple launched the AirPods Pro on October 30, 2019, and it came with a lot of outstanding features that impressed people.

For one, it can block out ambient noise. And if you want to listen to some music while you’re out, you can program it to allow sounds to filter in.

This way, you can hear when a vehicle honks or someone calls your name.

Asides the noise cancellation feature and transparency mode, the design is attractive—a total rebirth from its predecessor AirPods.

With all the super ingredients packed in making the AirPods a dream, it has its Kryptonite.

It could fall off like a spec, and you might unfortunately not know, when, where or how.

If your AirPods Pro keeps falling out, it can get frustrating. It usually spans from the tips of the pods not being one’s perfect fit.

There’s an easy fix for loose-fitting AirPods.

How to wear AirPods Pro properly

The most important part of the AirPods Pro is the silicone tips that come with them.

The tips hold a lot of the upgrades that make the Pro version better than the AirPods.

One way to properly experience the features is if you have them on correctly.

Apple encourages that you experiment with different-sized tips to get your fit.

This way, you get the one that’s your size, and they never come off.

    Here’s how to wear AirPods Pro correctly;

    1. Flip the silicone tips and check for a letter.

This letter indicates the size of the tips you have. The AirPods Pro usually comes with the medium one on.

The large and small tips are in the box.

    2. Make sure the letter on the silicone tips aligns with the black vent behind the pods.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

    3. If it’s not aligned, turn the tips till they do. You should hear a click when it’s in place.
    4. To put the AirPods Pro in your ear, pull your ear backwards then upwards. Repeat for the other ear.
    5. Once you have them in your ear, run the Ear Tip Fit Test.

First, go to BLUETOOTH and then SETTINGS on your iOS device.

    6. In the list of devices, select the info button next to your AirPods.
    7. Next, click Ear Tip Fit Test.

If you don’t see that option, you most likely do not have the iOS version 13.2 or later. Try to upgrade .

    8. Select CONTINUE and hit the play button at the bottom of the screen.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

The test might suggest trying a different ear tip or adjusting the ones you have on.

    You can do that.

Otherwise, you’ll get green checkmarks that indicate you’ve unlocked the proper way to wear AirPods Pro.

    How to change ear tips

In case your first test attempt wasn’t a success, try the other sizes of ear tips. You need to get this right.

Getting the fit right unlocks the potential of the AirPods Pro.

The sound will be adequately sealed in, noise locked out and modified.

You’ll literally be able to hear the experience you’ve missed out on.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

For your next attempt, here’s how to remove and attach ear tips.

    1. With your fingers, pull the tip of the ear tip firmly till it comes off.

It might seem like you’re about to rip it, but you won’t. No worries there.

    2. To attach, place the ear tip on the oval-shaped connector on the AirPod.

Place your fingers at the base of the tip and push it on the connector. You’ll hear a click once it sits firmly.

If all three tips still don’t get green checks, we suggest doing one of three things.

    • Using different sizes of tips for both AirPods.
    • Getting extra small AirPods Pro tips.
    • Getting AirPods Pro memory foam tips. You can remove the hard plastic core of the memory tips.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

You’ll have just the foam now. Line the foam under the actual tips of your AirPods Pro.

It’ll give it some cushioning effect and should make it more comfortable.

    How to use AirPods Pro

Now that your AirPods Pro is sitting pretty in your ears, you can properly experience them.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

To ensure you’re getting the best, here’s a short guide on how to use them:

    1. Go to your Home Screen.

    2. Open your Airpods Pro case close to your phone.

    3. Once the setup information appears, hit CONNECT.

    4. After the next three screens, you’ll be guided to set up Hey Siri.

    5. Hit DONE.

To begin controlling your device, follow these steps:

    1. Press the stem of the Airpods Pro to play and pause your audio.

    2. To skip forward, double press the stem.

    3. To skip back, triple press the stem.

Press and hold the stem, also known as the force sensor, to switch between Noise Cancellation and Transparency Mode.

    In conclusion

We’ve detailed all the possible ways to wear AirPods Pro properly .

Once you follow all of them through, you should be able to wear them with comfort.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

The AirPods upgrade to the Pro version is a welcome change for Apple users. But before you can take full advantage, you need to make sure that they fit properly.

If you’re an Apple veteran, you probably already know how to get a snug fit from a brand-new pair of AirPods.

However, if you’re new to the world of Apple AirPods, you may need a little help. Getting the right fit can help you experience a richer bass sound and more effective noise cancellation.

Take a look below to find out how to get the perfect fit with your AirPod Pro tips.

    Ear Tip Sizing

If you’ve ever bought any type of earbuds, you know that the package typically comes with different sized ear cushions. Well, the AirPods do, too!

You receive three ear tip sizes with your AirPods Pro, but Apple attaches the medium size automatically. That means that when you open the package, you already have the medium tips pre-installed.

Of course, you can always double-check the ear tip size when you take the AirPods out of the package. Etched on the inside, near the base, you’ll see an S, M, or L. Unroll the edge to take a look at the ear tip size attached.

Maybe you already tried the medium ear tips, and something didn’t seem right. No matter how much you adjust them, you aren’t getting the right fit.

If the medium-sized tips feel too big or uncomfortable, you may need the smaller tip. On the other hand, if you just can’t seem to get a good seal, the larger ear tip may be in order.

    Changing Ear Tips

Removing and replacing AirPod tips is a relatively simple process.

    • First, you need to remove the existing ear tip from your AirPods. To do so, simply pinch firmly at the base of the tip and pull.
    • If you’re hesitant about pulling too hard, don’t worry! You won’t damage the tip. They’re remarkably resilient! Just keep pulling until you feel the base detach.
    • Next, it’s time to attach your new tips.
    • Grasp the full part of the ear tip near the base between your thumb and forefinger. Align it with the connector part of the AirPod. The opening is oval-shaped, so you may need to squeeze slightly to get the right shape.
    • Gently push the ear tip onto the opening for the Airpod. You’ll know it’s secure when you hear it click into place.

    The Ear Tip Test

Did you pick the right tip size for your ears?

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

Apple makes it easy to check sound quality and noise cancellation with their Ear Tip Test. Here’s how:

    • To start the test, place the AirPods in your ears and grab your iPhone or another iOS device.
    • Go to the Settings menu on your iPhone and select Bluetooth.
    • Go down the Bluetooth list until you get to your AirPods. Tap on the little blue “I” with the circle around it. That’s the Info button.
    • Select the Ear Tip Fit Test option and then Continue and Play buttons when prompted. The test may make suggestions by adjusting the ear tips or trying a different one altogether. Follow the suggestions and try running the test again.

If you don’t see an option for the Ear Fit Test, you may need to upgrade your iOS. The test is available on iOS and iPadOS systems that run 13.2 versions or later.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

    Before You Go

If you tried everything and still can’t get your AirPods Pro to seal properly, you may need to try different sizes for each ear.

Try using different combinations of tips and running the Ear Test until you find one that fits just right. And if you still can’t get a comfortable fit, you can always try aftermarket AirPods Pro accessories like memory foam tips and ear hooks.

Apple’s new AirPods Pro will scan the inside of your ears when you wear them.

While the headline feature of the new earphones is their ability to block out sound with a new noise cancelling feature, it also includes a variety of different features that are intended to improve the sound you hear, too.

The first one that users will see is what Apple calls the “Ear Tip Fit Test”. That is used to ensure that the tips on the end of each AirPod Pro fit properly, and that they are sitting snug in your ear.

It does so by using “advanced algorithms” that take the sound from the microphones in each of the AirPods and measure the sound level, Apple said. It will then compare that with the sound that is coming out of the speaker driver, and from that work out whether the AirPod is seated properly in the ear and whether the ear tip is the right size.

After that is working, the AirPods can also make use of Adaptive EQ, which uses similar features to improve the sound. Apple claims the earphones can “automatically tune low- and mid-frequencies of the music to the shape of an individual’s ear — resulting in a rich, immersive listening experience”.

Find that your AirPods Pro Ear Tip Fit test does not work?

Then this guide is written specifically to address that.

The Ear Tip Fit test is a way to make sure that your AirPods Pro fits perfectly in your ears in order to provide the best sound quality and noise cancellation. The issue, however, as reported by many AirPods Pro users, is that this test either keeps failing or doesn’t work.

We have tried and tested the solutions below, and we hope that the solutions below do help or at least set you on the right path to resolving the issue.

    Let’s dive right in.

How to Fix AirPods Pro Ear Tip Fit Test Not Working: 3 Ways

    1. Try Rearranging, Twisting Till It Works.

The first tip, which you may or may not have already done, is to adjust the position of the AirPods Pro in your ears until it better fits.

Apple also suggests trying out the different ear tips provided for the AirPods Pro and then carrying out the Ear Tip Fit test until it passes. The key here is to choose the ear tip that’s most comfortable for you as well as an excellent seal to allow for noise cancellation.

If you think that this is just one of Apple’s stupid exclusive requirements, it’s frankly not as both Sony and Bose advise to do the same for their noise-cancellation headphones/earphones:

It’s crucial if you want the best noise cancellation, then the seal has to adequately fit – which is why the Ear Tip Fit test is helpful.

You may find that you may need different sizes for your left and right ears, and that’s completely fine. Again, if it is comfortable and it works to cancel out noise, then it should work to pass the test.

If you’re having to find yourself adjusting the angles of the AirPods Pro or twisting it upside-down, then the issue is with the ear caps, in which case you may need to purchase more suitable ear tips sizes. This varies from person-to-person since each of us has different ear sizes.

Help! How do you remove and attach ear tips on AirPods Pro?

Pull firmly using your fingers at the base of ear tip – where the ear tip is attached to your AirPod Pro. This will remove the ear tip.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

If you would like to attach the same (or different) ear tip, align the ear tip with the oval-shaped connector on the AirPod Pro. Next, holding the base of the ear tip, push the ear tip into the connector until you hear a ‘Click’ into place.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

    2. Hitting Play Twice.

Credit goes to user GellieG for pointing this out over on the Apple forums. The solution works during the Ear Tip Fit test, where instead of just hitting the Play button, you will need to scroll up the page where there you will find another Play button to press.

Any reason why there are two Play buttons? We are not sure why 🤷‍♂️ , but Apple, for some reason, did add it.

Here are the steps to follow:

    1. With your AirPods Pro in your ears, jump into your Settings app and then tap on Bluetooth.
    2. Next, tap on the blue info button (i) next to your AirPods Pro in the list of Bluetooth devices.
    3. Now, tap on the Ear Tip Fit test. Make sure that you have iOS (or iPadOS) version 13.2 or later to see the Ear Tip Fit test.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

    1. Next, tap Continue and then tap the first Playbutton.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

    1. Now on the next page, you will need to scroll up the page (if you’re on iPhone XS Max or iPhone 11 Pro Max), and you should see another Play button.

That’s pretty much it! The test will start working.

    3. Visit Apple.

Besides the two solutions above, the one surefire way to fix this issue is to visit Apple and tell them about the problem. Many users had this similar issue and got it fixed as Apple’s Support exchanged for a new pair of AirPods Pro.

The most likely cause is that the ones you’ve received are defective, and considering since this is the first generation of the AirPods Pro to be released, issues like these are generally expected along with the other myriad of problems which we’ve previously talked about. You can also request for a refund, as long as you’re within 14 days .

For more information on returns and refunds, as well as if you wish to prefer returning the product via a carrier, then Apple has written a helpful page on this.

As we close this guide, we hope that this guide has helped you fix your AirPods Pro Ear Tip Fit test from not working. If you have questions related to this topic, please feel free to leave a comment below, and we will love to help you out. ❤

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

Apple’s new AirPods Pro will hit stores beginning tomorrow, October 30th, and today, I got a chance to give them a try and put the company’s active noise cancellation to the test. As someone who has never been able to fully enjoy the regular AirPods — they just don’t fit my ears securely — the in-ear design of the AirPods Pro is super appealing.

Three silicone tip sizes come in the box, and iOS has a built-in fit test that briefly plays a bit of music to check whether you’ve got a good seal. An internal-facing microphone compares what you’re hearing to what the speaker driver is putting out. If there’s too much of a difference, the test will tell you to adjust the fit or try a different size and re-run it.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

AirPods Pro at bottom left, with the previous AirPods above them and Powerbeats Pro to the right.

I got a “good seal” result with both the medium- and large-sized tips. So from that point, it’s really about picking which one feels most secure and comfortable. Apple says that many people might end up using different sizes for each ear, which is something that other earbud manufacturers also encourage customers to try. If you lose your tips, you’ll be able to buy replacements in each size from Apple’s retail stores.

Some people dislike in-ears because they feel pressure when wearing them. This can happen if the silicone seal is too tight. To overcome this, Apple designed a vent system into the new AirPods that equalizes pressure on both sides of each earbud so you never have that buildup of air.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

The $249 AirPods Pro include a multi-microphone system (two in each earbud) that analyzes external ambient sound and cancels it out with anti-noise. After some early time with them, I can already say that the noise cancellation is legit. The AirPods Pro do a good job of cutting down on outside noise. They’re earbuds, after all, so the effect isn’t miraculous, but Manhattan streets are a proving ground for noise canceling tech and the AirPods are off to a strong start.

Each earbud runs its own noise cancellation process independently. (You can still use just one AirPod individually if you want.) Apple says you’ll get 4.5 hours of continuous music listening when NC is enabled, but like other AirPods, there’s enough juice in the carrying case to power them for a little over 24 hours.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

Noise cancellation can be controlled from iOS Settings, Control Center, through Siri voice commands, or the indented “force sensor” area of each earbud. The old tap gestures are now gone since tapping a silicone earbud into your ear canal can get uncomfortable. You control these AirPods by squeezing the force sensor: a quick squeeze to pause or play, twice to skip a track, or three times to go back. Holding down switches between noise cancellation and transparency modes. You hear a tiny little click sound whenever you use the force sensor to confirm your squeeze was registered, but there’s no button that actually moves.

Apple AirPods Pro review: perfect fit

Transparency mode lets you hear what’s going on around you. You just hold the force sensor, and a little chime indicates that you’ve entered ambient sound mode. The vent system also comes into play here, as you can talk at people normal volumes without speaking awkwardly loud or shouting because of the ear tip seal. You’re free to just leave transparency mode active whenever you want, so this is a helpful feature for people who like the awareness provided by the open-air design of the regular AirPods. If you’re running outside, it can be important for safety.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

As for sound quality, Apple says the AirPods Pro contains new custom-built drivers and amplifiers. But the real key ingredient is a feature called Ambient EQ. As you listen to music, the AirPods Pro adjust the sound signal 200 times a second to optimize audio for your specific ear shape with the help of an internal-facing microphone. Now, in some ways, you’ve got to take the company’s word for this stuff. How is anyone really going to know if that analysis is happening? It’s not something you hear or can detect. But when you turn off noise cancellation, Ambient EQ also goes with it — and you can hear a difference. The AirPods Pro do sound slightly slightly better with Ambient EQ enabled.

I like what I’m hearing so far. AirPods have never been about rumbling bass, but these are a clear improvement. Jenny Lewis’ “Red Bull & Hennessey” has a really heavy mix, and the AirPods Pro handles it wonderfully. These new AirPods cost a lot more at $249, so they’ve got to compete with other earbuds in that price range — and a lot of those sound terrific. I’ll need more time to compare them against the Powerbeats Pro, Echo Buds, Sony’s 1000X M3s, and other premium earbuds. Stay tuned for more sound quality impressions in the full AirPods Pro review. And if you’ve got any questions about Apple’s new noise-canceling earbuds, let me hear ‘em in the comments.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods proThis is the simplest “hack” ever.
    Photo: Cult of Mac

I sent my first pair of AirPods Pro back to Apple soon after buying them. Why? Because they were too small for my ears. Even with the biggest silicone tips fitted, I could never get too green checkmarks on the Ear Tip Fit Test. But, thanks to an absurdly simple hack, I’m back in the game. Now my AirPods Pro past the fit test every time. More importantly, noise really is sealed out, and the AirPods Pro are super comfy.

The AirPods Pro memory foam hack

This trick — which via the Reddit thread Leander mentioned in CultCast episode 420 — uses a pair of memory-foam earbud tips as a kind of organ-donor for the AirPods Pro. All you do is remove the hard plastic core from the memory foam, leaving a squiggly foam donut. You then flip the mushroom-shaped canopy of the AirPods’ inside out, roll it up, and thread it through the hole in the donut.

Finally, you flip the silicone canopy back over the foam. You now have a foam filling inside your silicone tips. And this tiny mod is enough to make the AirPods fit way better.

    AirPods Pro fit and sizing

The unmodified AirPods Pro are too small for my ear holes. It’s not the size of the holes, so much as the shape. This, coupled with the floppy nature of silicone tips, means that I could never get a tight seal.

And a tight seal is essential for two things. The first is that it seals noise out, and sound in. Background noise is diminished, while bass and clarity are augmented. This is passive noise-cancelling, and, combined with active noise-cancelling, it makes the AirPods Pro sound great.

A tight seal is also essential for comfort. If the pods aren’t tight in your ears, then they are loose, and they feel like they’re about to slip out. Nobody likes that. Even when you’re in a quiet environment, so you don’t notice the lack of good noise-sealing, loose tips are plain uncomfortable.

What tips do you need for this hack?

Ideally, you could buy memory-foam tips made to fit the custom clip-in mount of the AirPods Pro. And in fact, cheap options are starting to appear on Amazon. But until then, you’ll need donor tips that meet following requirements:

    • Sized to expand the Apple silicone tips slightly, without making them too big to fit in the charging case.
    • Not too tall — you don’t want to cover the vent that lets air pressure equalize inside your ear.
    • That’s it, really. Maybe pick a color you like?

Before I picked up a new pair of AirPods Pro to test this hack, I spent far too long browsing Amazon for some tips that looked like they’d do the job. Then, I went through my junk box to see if I had anything suitable I could use. I found a pair of regular foam tips in there. These aren’t memory foam, or anything fancy at all. Just plain old gray spongy foam, doubtless left over from some cheap, crappy headphones I got sent by a PR person back when I wrote reviews.

    Fit those tips

These tips were so beat up that one of them had already lost its plastic core. I gently eased the foam away from the core on the other one, and went to work. I used masking tape to hold the rolled-up Apple tips together while threading them through the holes of the foam donuts. Be careful when removing the tape. The silicone tips are fairly tough but if you tear one, then you’re screwed, until you can make it to an Apple Store to pick up replacements.

I can’t recommend any particular tips to buy, because it will all depend on where you start. I went straight for the largest Apple tips, but perhaps you would prefer another size. Instead, I’d recommend choosing a set that has S/M/L tips in a pack. Most of the packs available on Amazon come in six packs like this. Other than that, it doesn’t really matter. The tips will be almost completely hidden by the Apple tips, and you can always trim the foam donuts to fit if they’re too long.

Right now, mine work great with the crappy foam tips I found in my junk box. I have some memory foam tips arriving sometime soon, and I’m interested to see if I can get a tighter fit, while still being able to fit the AirPods Pro in their case. I shall add to this post if I find anything of note.

Third-party AirPods Pro memory foam tips

As I mentioned above, there are already some replacement AirPods Pro tips showing up on Amazon and Ebay. I ordered a set, and I’ll write about that in a separate post when they arrive. I wonder if good-quality third-party tips will become widely available, or if Apple has some kind of patent that locks up its proprietary mount for legitimate manufacturers.

In the meantime, I highly recommend this hack. It’s almost impossible to break anything, it’s completely reversible, and it’ll cost you less than $10 to try it out. If you don’t yet have a pair of AirPods Pro, or you sent then back like I did, then buying a new pair just to test this hack might be a little risky. It worked perfectly for me, but maybe you won’t be so lucky.

Either way, if you do try it, let us know how it goes.

Get the most out of your AirPods with these tips.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of AirPods, both the original design and the AirPods Pro. In fact, while audiophiles might quibble that there are better-sounding in-ears available, there’s nothing that combines sound quality and convenience like these Apple listening devices. Oh, and the noise-cancellation really does a good job of eliminating background noise like when you’re trying to get work done in a coffee shop, or trying to sleep on a long flight home from Las Vegas for CES.

And, based on the fact that Apple practically sold out of AirPods for the holidays, I suspect there are a lot of you who love them too. What you might not know is that there are a few super-useful tricks that your AirPods can do that you won’t want to live without. Seriously, they’re really cool.

    1. Test to See Which Tips Are the Right Size

The AirPods Pro have a silicone tip, which is why they are able to create a seal that allows noise-cancellation to work. In fact, they come with three different size tips to make sure you use the best size for your hear. To help you figure out which size tip you should use for your ear, the AirPods have the ability to run a sonic test that evaluates sound leakage and determines whether you have a good seal.

To run the test, open your Bluetooth settings, tap on the AirPods Pro, and then select the “Ear Tip Fit Test.” It’ll walk you through the process of playing a short piece of music, and then giving you your results.

    2. Connect them to Apple TV

Want to watch your favorite show or movie late at night, but worried about waking everyone else up? No worries, you can connect your AirPods to your Apple TV and use them as your speaker. Now you can enjoy binge-watching without keeping the kids up. Simply navigate to the Bluetooth settings on your Apple TV and select the AirPods to pair them.

    3. Use Them With Live Listen

The iPhone has a very helpful feature that lets you use it as a remote mic that sends whatever it picks up to your AirPods (or PowerBeats Pro). This works as long as the AirPods are in range of the phone, meaning you can use it from room to room, or place it near a speaker in a meeting to be able to hear better from your seat.

To activate Live Listen, just visit the Control Center settings, add the Hearing widget, then select the ear-shaped icon from Control Center (accessed by pulling down from the battery icon on your iPhone’s home screen. Then tap the Live Listen to “on” while your AirPods are in your ear and you’ll be able to hear whatever your iPhone hears.

    4. Read Your Text Messages

With the second-generation AirPods, and the AirPods Pro, Siri will read you your text messages, or even announce who is calling you on your iPhone. By the way, after Siri reads you your message, she’ll listen for just a moment in case you’d like to reply. Say “reply to that message” and then whatever you want her to send.

This is especially helpful if you’re, say, riding a bike, going for a run, or walking through an airport trying to avoid running into everyone else looking down at their phones. To activate this feature, Tap on “Siri & Search” in your Settings app, then tap “Announce Messages.”

    5. Long-Press to Switch Between Noise Cancellation Modes

You might already know you can adjust noise cancellation by long-pressing the volume indicator on your iPhone. But if you just want to quickly toggle back-and-forth between Noise Cancellation and Transparency modes, a long press on the stem of your AirPods Pro will do the trick.

    Bonus: Find Your Lost Earbud

This one is pretty great really. If you happen to have misplaced one of your AirPods, you can use the Find My app on your iPhone or Mac and have it send a tone to the missing earbud. The only downside is that this doesn’t work if they are in the case, and you happen to have misplaced that. However, the app will show you the last location you were connected to your iPhone on a map.

If you lose one of your AirPods Pro silicone tips, or one of the earbuds itself, there are ways to get replacements without shelling out for an entirely new set. Here’s how to get that replacement tip for the AirPods Pro, or replace an earbud, or even the charging case.

The new AirPods Pro are both more expensive and more expensive to repair than their predecessors— a fact that probably isn’t terribly surprising to many people. However, replacing the silicone ear tips of the AirPods Pro, in the event that one should come loose or get damaged, shouldn’t break the bank.

    Obtaining new AirPods Pro tips

The silicone tips are reasonably priced, and Apple charges $4 per replacement pair. However, getting them is a bit of a hassle as they’re not available for standalone purchase. Replacing the tips is classified as “repairing” your AirPods Pro, so getting a pair means you’ll have to make an appointment with your local Genius Bar or — if you don’t live near an Apple Store — you’ll have to contact Support.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

    • To contact support, head to support.apple.com.
    • Once you’ve logged in with your Apple ID, select Replace an AirPod or ear tip.
    • Select your AirPods Pro in the list of devices associated with your Apple ID. You may have to enter your serial number.
    • Follow the steps on screen to order in replacement tips and have them shipped to your house.

Of course, if you don’t want do do that, you can also call 1-800-MY-APPLE.

    The cost of other replacements

In the event that you damage more than the tip of the AirPods Pro, you’re going to end up paying quite a bit more. In the event that you purchased AppleCare+, you’ll have to pay $29 per incident. This covers both the AirPods Pro themselves, as well as the wireless charging case.

Battery service — which is provided for either the AirPods Pro or Wireless Charging Case holds less than 80 percent of its original capacity — is free for anyone who purchased AppleCare+ for the length of the extended warranty.

In the event that you didn’t spring for the AppleCare+, it’s a bit more expensive. Each AirPod will cost you $89 to replace, and the wireless charging case also carries an $89 service fee.

Battery service available as well. Each AirPod costs $49 to have the battery replaced, meaning the set will run you over $100 by the time tax is calculated in. The Wireless charging case also has a $49 battery service fee. If you’re certain that this is the problem, specifically tell service folks that you want the battery service — otherwise you’ll get charged the full $89 service fee.

Because of this, we highly recommend AppleCare+ for them. It’s a one-time $29 cost that drastically reduces the cost of up to two incidents of accidental damage and battery service, which can save you a lot of money down the line.

How to select the best ear tip for apple airpods pro

We need to talk about AirPods Pro tips. The actual ear tips.

Those soft silicone pieces are one of the biggest design changes Apple introduced with the first “pro” version of its AirPods. It’s the reason the newest AirPods are both more comfortable and able to block out ambient noise.

Apple encourages you to experiment with different sized tips in order to get the right fit (and there’s an elaborate “ear tip ft test” meant to help you accomplish just that). But what’s less clear upon busting open your new box of AirPods is that the tips work a bit differently than the earbuds you’re used to.

For one, it takes a surprising amount of force to yank them off. And if you don’t put them back on correctly, they’re prone to falling off, as Tom Felton recently learned. The Harry Potter star shared on Twitter that one of the tips got stuck in his ear despite his attempts to “fish it out with my glasses.”

Before we go any further, I should admit that I also struggled with the ear tips when I first got my AirPods Pro. And, like Felton, I had one ear tip slip off in my ear when I thought I had secured it to the bud. Unlike Felton, I didn’t have to go digging around (!!) for it in my ear canal. (It should really go without saying, but please, do not under any circumstances, do this.)

Even if you don’t have any kind of phobia about things getting lodged inside your ears, the idea of the tips of your new $249 earbuds falling off in your ears is. unsettling.

The good news is, if you’re using them correctly, the tips should never come off unexpectedly. As I mentioned earlier, you have to pull really, really hard to remove them, so if they are falling off it’s likely you’re doing something wrong.

But there’s a really easy way to check to make sure you’re re-attaching the tips of your AirPods Pro properly.

Flip up the silicone flap and you’ll see a small letter indicating the size tip you’re using. Make sure the letter (there are two on each tip; either one works) is positioned so that it’s lined up with the long black vent on the top of the bud (pictured above). Once you have the tip lined up properly, it should easily snap into place with an audible click.

Here’s what it looks like from the other side. Again, notice how the letter (indicated by the arrow) is lined up with the vent on the back of the bud.

All you have to do is look for the letter, push, and listen for the click.
