To use Friendmoji stickers, you must first link Bitmoji with your Snapchat account. Both you and your friend must have their Bitmoji successfully linked with Snapchat.
Q: How do I link my Bitmoji to Snapchat?
- Download the latest version of both Bitmoji and Snapchat
- Open Snapchat
- Tap the circle icon or your profile on the top-left corner of the camera screen
- Tap the gear icon or Settings in the top-right corner
- Tap ‘Bitmoji’ and then select ‘ Create Bitmoji ’ on the bottom of the screen
- If you’re already logged in on Bitmoji, you’ll find a screen with a button on the bottom asking if you want to ‘ Agree & Connect ‘.
If you previously created a Bitmoji account using your email address, but choose to create a new one using the ‘Continue with Snapchat’’ button, your old Bitmoji account will not be available for use within Snapchat.
Once you’ve created your new avatar, follow the steps above to connect Bitmoji to Snapchat. We’ll confirm that your Bitmoji linking was successful 👍🏼
Don’t have Bitmoji installed? Simply tap to download the latest version of Bitmoji on Android or iOS , and then follow the steps above to connect or create your Bitmoji with Snapchat!
Note: In order to link Bitmoji with Snapchat, you will need to have at least iOS 10 or Android 4.4.
Snapchat lets you add your own photo to your snapcode. You can forgo the image but that leaves your snapcode blank with just the white ghost in the middle. The recent update to Snapchat has changed that. If you’ve created a bitmoji avatar for your Snapchat account, it’s automatically added to your snapcode if you don’t have a profile picture. You can also edit bitmoji moods in Snapchat.
Edit Bitmoji Moods In Snapchat
Make sure you’ve created a bitmoji avatar for your Snapchat account. Open Snapchat and tap the bitmoji at the top left. On your profile screen, tap ‘Edit Bitmoji’ at the top left. This will take you to the Bitmoji screen. Tap ‘Change my Bitmoji selfie’.
On the following screen, select the mood you want to set for your bitmoji, and tap ‘Done’ at the bottom. Your Bitmoji will update automatically.
This is a new Snapchat feature so you will have to update the app to get it. If you have your own picture added to your snapcode, you will have to remove it to add your bitmoji avatar to it.
Remove Profile Picture From Snapchat
Open Snapchat. Tap the ghost or bitmoji icon at the top left of the home screen. This will take you to your profile screen. Tap your snapcode. On your snapcode screen, tap the reverse arrow button on the right of the capture button. Snapchat will confirm if you want to remove your profile picture. Tap ‘Remove’ and you’re done.
Snapchat will immediately add your bitmoji avatar to the snapcode, if you’ve created one.
We should warn you that, like all new Snapchat features, this one is also rolling out incrementally to users worldwide. Before you remove your profile picture from Snapchat, check if it will be replaced with your bitmoji avatar.
To check this, tap your bitmoji avatar at the top left of your profile screen. If you see the ‘Edit My Bitmoji Selfie’ option on the Bitmoji screen, then the feature has rolled out to your account. If you don’t see this option, then Snapchat will not add your bitmoji avatar to your snapcode.
The solution in this case is to just wait it out. Snapchat features don’t take very long to roll out worldwide. It’s only a matter of time until you get it. At the most, you only have to wait a week. Make sure you’ve updated the app, of course and that you have a bitmoji avatar configured and connected to your Snapchat account.
So, once your Bitmoji avatar has been automatically added to your snapcode, is there any way to change it back to your previous profile picture?
You can unlink your avatar but that’s all. Snapchat has removed profile pictures. You cannot revert back to one.

If you’ve used Snapchat, you’ll probably have noticed that some of your friends have a cartoon profile picture that they can also include in different Snaps. This is a “Bitmoji”. Lets look at how to set one up to use with Snapchat.
For this to work, you need to have the Bitmoji app installed on your phone as well as Snapchat. It’s available in the iPhone App Store and the Google Play Store.
Open Snapchat and tap on the icon in the top left corner of the screen to get to the Settings page, then tap Add Bitmoji.
Tap Create Bitmoji. If you’ve got the Bitmoji app installed already, it will open; otherwise you’ll be taken to the App Store or Google Play Store to download it. Next, tap Create with Snapchat or log in with an existing Bitmoji account.
Now it’s time to start creating your Bitmoji avatar. Select whether you want to appear as male or female. You’ll be asked if you want to take a selfie to compare yourself too.
Work through all the customisation options—there’s millions of possible combinations—and you should be able to create a reasonable approximation of what you look like. I think mine looks pretty close!
Tap Save Avatar followed by Agree & Connect. This will save the Bitmoji you just created and link it to your Snapchat account.
Now you’re all set to use your Bitmoji in Snapchat. You’ll see it take place in the middle of your Snapcode, and your friends will see it in their contact list. You can add stickers featuring your Bitmoji to your Snaps, and if you if you’re directly messaging a friend, use stickers that feature both your Bitmojis.
At any time, you can go in and edit your Bitmoji avatar, either from Snapchat or the Bitmoji app.

Bitmoji is a popular smartphone app that allows users to create a unique personalized avatar based on their own facial features. This human-like avatar can then be incorporated into custom-made emojis known as Bitmojis, which users send to their friends like they do regular emojis. Owned by the same company that owns Snapchat, Bitmoji ranks as one of the most downloaded Android apps.
The app lets you exchange Bitmojis with your friends via messaging platforms and social media apps. However, if you want to send Bitmojis from inside the app of your choice – be it Messenger, WhatsApp, Snapchat, or some other – you must enable the Bitmoji keyboard. Here you will learn how to do this.
Before You Start
To be able to share your personalized emojis with friends, you will first have to install the Bitmoji app. Download the app from the Google Play Store and follow the on-screen instructions to install it.
After that, launch the app and either register a new account or log in with your Snapchat credentials. Set up your profile and design your own Bitmoji avatar by customizing your gender, skin tone, hair, facial features, and clothes. When you’re done, tap on the checkmark in the top-right corner of the screen to save the avatar. This avatar will now serve as the basis for all the Bitmojis you create.
Enabling the Bitmoji Keyboard
Sending Bitmojis from the Bitmoji app is a good option if you just want to share one or two images and be done with it. However, if you want to use your Bitmojis in all online conversations, the Bitmoji keyboard is a much more practical solution. Rather than having to open the app whenever you want to send a Bitmoji, you can change your keyboard, find the Bitmoji, and send it – all in just a few quick taps.
To enable the Bitmoji Keyboard, do the following:
- Open the Bitmoji app and tap the three dots icon in the top-right corner.
- Tap “Settings” in the dropdown menu.
- In the Settings menu, tap “Bitmoji Keyboard”.
- Tap “Enable Keyboard”.
This will take you to your device’s Language and Settings menu. If you toggle the switch next to “Bitmoji Keyboard” to “on”, you will be able to use it in your messages. However, you will have to go to the same menu and switch the option off to use your standard textual keyboard.
To simplify the process, you need to install and configure Google’s Gboard keyboard.
If you don’t already have Gboard installed, you can download it for free from the Google Play Store.
With both Gboard and the Bitmoji keyboard installed, here is how to configure them:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap “Language & Input”.
- Select “Current Keyboard”. If you have a Samsung Galaxy phone, the option is labeled “On-Screen Keyboard”.
- In the pop-up window, tap “Choose Keyboards” or “Manage Keyboards” on Samsung Galaxy phones.
- You will now see a list of all the keyboards installed on your phone. Toggle the switches next to “Bitmoji Keyboard” and “Gboard” to on so that both keyboards are active.
After this, open the Gboard app and set Gboard as your default keyboard by tapping on the following options: Select Input Method > Gboard > Set Permissions > Allow > Done.
With Gboard properly configured, you can now start using the Bitmoji keyboard in messages.
Using the Bitmoji Keyboard
To start using the Bitmoji keyboard, open your favorite messaging app and do the following:
- Tap a text field to bring up the keyboard.
- On the keyboard, tap the smiley face icon. You’ll find it in the bottom-left corner of the screen, left of the space bar.
- Tap the small Bitmoji icon at the bottom-center of the screen.
- Next, a window with all your Bitmojis will appear. Scroll through them to find the one you want to send or enter your keyword into the “Search Bitmoji” field to find it faster.
- Once you’ve found the Bitmoji you want to send, tap to insert it into your message.
- Tap “Send” to send your message. Depending on the app you’re using, this option may be represented by an arrow symbol or a checkmark.
A Few Notes on Bitmoji and Gboard
In apps that allow you to paste images into the text field (Snapchat, WhatsApp, Messenger, Hangouts, Google Android Messages, and a few others), you will be able to add captions to your Bitmojis before sending them. In other messaging apps, your Bitmoji will be sent in the form of a sticker.
To use the Bitmoji keyboard in combination with Gboard, you will need to free up at least 5% of your device’s total storage space. Also, always use the latest version of the Bitmoji app to avoid glitches.
