How to delete old facebook friend requests

If you’ve had a Facebook account for years, you might have sent out quite a few friend requests when you first opened your account. Not all of those requests were likely answered. That’s all right, because you can go through your pending requests and delete them.

This wasn’t always the case. For quite some time, if you wanted to cancel friend requests, you actually had to go to the profile and cancel it from there.

How to delete old facebook friend requests

This had the two problems. First, you had to remember all your friend requests, and then of course, you had to go to each and every profile rather than being able to administer to all your pending friend requests in one place. Thankfully, you can now attend to Facebook requests from a single page, which means that you can rescind those friend requests if you think better of it the next day, or even right after you send it.

First, click on the friend requests button. You’ll see here pending requests sent to you and suggestions that Facebook makes called “People You May Know.”

How to delete old facebook friend requests

Scroll to the bottom of this list and click “See All” to show all your Facebook friend requests.

How to delete old facebook friend requests

Here on the resulting page, we see we’ve 10 pending friend requests that we can either confirm or delete. This is nothing new and you may or not even have any friend requests if you’re especially good about taking care of them as they occur. Note however, the small link “View Sent Requests” in the Respond heading.

How to delete old facebook friend requests

Clicking on that link will whisk you to your “Friend Requests Sent” page where you can see every friend request you’ve ever made since you opened you account. Click on the button “Friend Request Sent” for further options. You can add your friend request to a specific list (Close Friends, Acquaintances, etc.) or suggest friends to your new, future friend.

Simply select “Cancel Request” to delete it, and you’re done. Now go through the rest of your old sent requests and do the same thing for each want you want to cancel.

How to delete old facebook friend requests

It’s always good to audit your social media accounts from time to time, and this is just another way of doing that. From an account management point of view, the people that you attempted to friend years ago may be people you don’t necessarily want to be friends with today. Or, simply, you may just want to tie off any loose ends. Also, once you cancel a request, you can then resend a request, in case they didn’t see it the first time.

In the end, we know Facebook can be pretty annoying but to many, it’s a necessary evil. After all, this is the social network most of your real life friends and even family use. We like to think however, we can do our best to master it and mitigate some of its more offending features, such as putting the kabash on birthday notifications or clamping down on irritating game and app requests.

So, until a better social network comes along, we’ll have to do what’s necessary to keep Facebook’s flaws to a minimum. It’s nice now that you can delete old friend requests so we’ll count that as one in the positive column.

Howto Delete / Cancel all Previous Sent Facebook Friend Requests

Undoubtedly, Facebook is the number 1 social-media platform at this moment. We are saying this not only because of their popularity, but due to their user friendly environment and a bundle of functionality to Facebook users. In this modern world, Facebook is the easiest way to connect with the family, friends and relatives. For people involved in business, it’s a great place for them to interact and connect with new customers. Everybody on this planet, need some fame and Facebook is providing that FAME by providing a free unique identity to them. Here You can connect with anybody by just sending a Friend Requests for approval. Facebook is also helping many companies / businesses to catch their unreachable customers. Simply, they are doing a great job.

At Facebook, there are only two options by which we can connect to others. By simply following that person OR Becoming friends (by sending a friend request). If we take the first option, Just following a person doesn’t satisfy your needs in general. By following a person you can only view his / her updates, what about your your posts / updates. The person you are following will never get your stuff on his / her wall. Does this means true connectivity ?. No, for true connectivity the person has to accept your friends request. By just following a person, you are throwing your reputation to the person who actually not interested to be friends with you. So, from now onwards start unfollowing peoples who haven’t accepted your friends request. Sorry for the harsh words 🙁 . To unfollow, just go to their profile page and un-tick the “follow button” 🙂 .

Let’s move to the other left option, Becoming Friends (by sending a friend request). While using this option, you always have to understand that some will accept it and some will not. Don’t panic, it’s a part of this game. We believe, a normal person will be more than happy by having 200-250 Facebook friends (real one’s). But in real, to get better stardom, fame and exposure (Likes, Shares and Comments), the person have to go for much more friends or we can say, as much as possible. There is a limitation too for these numbers, Currently, Facebook has limited their users to add 5000 friends only, don’t you think that’s a quite huge value.

Now, you maybe wondering, If sending these friends request to not known individuals can help you in the cause?. The answer is YES. In addition, there is a BIG RISK too while performing this act. Facebook people now a days are very strict against these type of activities. There are strong chances that you will be restricted by Facebook. Here, we just want to suggest to do it gently (1-2 friends request in a day) and do it using your brains 🙂 (sending request to friends of your friends, this has some low risk). Always remember, the so called RISK is everywhere and we have to take it someday 🙂 . Don’t forget to delete the unaccepted friends request for better going.

Here goes the full how-to / tutorial about finding and deleting all unaccepted Facebook friend requests.

Note: Here, We are demonstrating this by using desktop version of Facebook. Step by step instructions starts here:

1)- Easiest of all 🙂 , Just login to your Facebook account and move over to your Home page.

2)- Now go to Top Navigation Menu, just click on “Friend Requests” Icon and you will see something like this (shown in the figure below).

How to delete old facebook friend requestsHowto delete friends request

3)- Now from this drop down menu / list, Click “see all” at the bottom (shown in the above figure itself).

4)- After clicking “see all” in step-3, you will be redirected to a new page. Here you have to click “View Sent Requests” (shown in the figure below)

How to delete old facebook friend requestsView Sent Friend Request

5)- After clicking “View Sent Requests”, You will be at your destination. Here, you will find the complete list of peoples who haven’t responded to your friends request in the past 🙁 . Just hover to the “Friend Request Sent” button opposite to any name and you will find the option to cancel that request or we can say mistake (Demonstration shown in the figure below).

How to delete old facebook friend requestsCancel / Delete Facebook Friend requests

6)- Now what, dear click cancel request button 🙂 . A confirmation popup window (shown in the figure below) will appear, supply “Cancel request” to it and it will be deleted permanently. Repeat all the necessary steps on each and every person who haven’t responded to your friends request. Throw them out of your Facebook Profile, SORRY for being harsh again 🙁 .

Why to perform this act of deleting all “Sent Requests” IMMEDIATELY ?

You maybe reading this post mistakenly, and is wondering about why we require to remove all sent requests in the past. Don’t worry, we have some strong clarifications to remove your confusions.

A)- Don’t you think, Your Reputation is in danger here.

The majority of the people at Facebook offers following option on their profile. Actually, they knows the fact that either they accept any friend request or not, This sender of the request will always be a follower to their Facebook profile. Sorry to tell, but in real you are harming your esteem for no justification. Following someone who isn’t interested or serious to accept you as a friend on his / her profile doesn’t make any sense. Always remember, this algorithm doesn’t apply if the next person is any celebrity 🙂 .

B)- You May get some Restriction or get Blocked on this Social Giant Place.

Facebook algorithm to control this act is getting harder and harder. Technically, throwing friend requests to not known individuals is a sure element of spam and is surely against Facebook Terms and conditions. So do you think, this big social giant will allow you to enjoy this. The answer is a big NOOOO, Never. This is the only reason why we are requesting you to perform this act with your profile as earliest as possible, before any penalization by Facebook.

That’s all for now. We don’t think anything related to this has been missed out. Still, If you think something is missing. You can request us to update the same as we (a2z infomatics) always try to provide complete, “near to accurate” info to our valued readers. Thanks for giving your precious time, God Bless Everybody.

It’s time to say goodbye to a few old faces – for your own benefit.

How to delete old facebook friend requests

How to delete old facebook friend requests

Before you know it, your Facebook page can become a haven for people you don’t speak to any more, annoying parents you once chatted to at the school gates and ex-work colleagues who love boasting about their ‘wonderful’ life. Let’s face it, the people you mingle with in the digital world can have a serious impact on your health and happiness.

Here are a few familiar faces you should probably say a virtual goodbye to:

1. The Showoff

Yes, while it was fun at first to be really nosy, looking at their holiday snaps and seeing what they were up to, their constant posts about what a wonderful life they have makes you feel as if your life is inadequate. Ditch anyone that makes you feel guilty about the things you’re blessed with, or people that make you feel super unpopular.

2. The Arguer

It’s time to say goodbye to the people who just use Facebook as a platform to start arguments. They often have controversial views that just result in a long timeline of people bickering with one another. Delete those who use the site to post offensive things simply to antagonise you, it’s not worth it.

3. The Reality TV contestant

They air their dirty laundry all over their Facebook page, with no privacy spared – and they sometimes even go as far as arguing with their partners in a public message. Although at times it can be undeniably fun to watch drama unfold, if you’re looking to lose some drama in your life, this could be a good start.

4. The Cryptic Coder

Who’s worse than the person airing their dirty laundry? The person that does it but doesn’t give anything away. This person stays pretty private, but in the most over-the-top and public way possible. ‘I’m so angry – I can’t believe some people and the lengths they go to.’ What lengths? What person? Who’s done what? Tell me now! These people do it to cause drama and draw attention, and you shouldn’t be giving in to them. Wave goodbye and remove them from your life.

5. The Gamer

We all hate those annoying invites to play things like Candy Crush, but they can be pretty addictive. Stop all communication with people you don’t really know that send you annoying gaming requests, it’ll stop you spending all your spare time playing addictive puzzles online. If it’s someone you want to remain friends with, just give them a little warning that you don’t like it.

6. The OTT Parent

You know the one – the dad who just loves to show off about his children’s achievements or the grandmother that can’t stop posting whole photo albums of her grandchildren. Okay, we get it: you love your children, and the odd photo is cute, but please stop bombarding my timeline with your perfect family!

7. The Criticiser

They are always the first person to criticise what you’re doing or what you’ve said. ‘Wow, that really can’t be good for you,’ they write, when you post a picture of that amazing dessert you’ve just scoffed, or ‘I think you’re so wrong,’ when you post an opinion about current affairs. It’s great to have some debate – to an extent – but never let someone else dictate how you should use your Facebook page. If they don’t like it, do them a favour and swiftly unfriend them.

8. The Boss

We’re not quite sure why you’d have your boss on Facebook anyway (unless you really are BFFs), but we strongly recommend you deleting them. Okay it could get pretty awkward at work, but do you really want them seeing everything you’ve been up to? They’ll start piecing together things like your late night out with friends and the fact you were 10 minutes late into work the next day.

9. The Stranger

We can guarantee you won’t speak to most of your Facebook friends in real life, so have a digital spring clean and remove a few that you really wouldn’t miss. That way, your Facebook becomes a place where you can keep in touch with those you really want to hear about. Trust us, those you delete probably won’t miss you either.
