How to change the appearance of netflix’s subtitles

You can change the font, size, shadow, and background color of subtitles and closed captions.

To change the appearance of subtitles and closed captions:

From a web browser, go to your Netflix Account page.

From Profile & Parental Controls, s elect a profile.

Select Change for Subtitle appearance .

Choose your subtitle appearance settings.

Open the Netflix app on your device.

To change subtitle and closed caption appearance on Apple devices:

Apple TV 2 or Apple TV 3

To adjust the subtitle and closed caption appearance on your Apple TV:

From the device home screen, select Settings .

Enable Closed Captions + SDH .

Select Style and choose your preferred subtitle and closed caption appearance.

Apple TV 4 or Apple TV 4K

To adjust the subtitle and closed caption appearance on your Apple TV:

From the device home screen, select Settings .

Select Subtitles and Captioning .

Enable Closed Captions + SDH .

If you create a new style, make sure that Video Override is turned off within the Font , Size , Color , and Opacity options.

iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

To adjust the subtitle and closed caption appearance on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:

From the device home screen, select Settings .

Select Subtitles & Captioning .

Use the slider to enable Closed Captions + SDH .

From this screen, you’ll be able to customize the appearance of subtitles and closed captions under Style .

If you create a new style, make sure that Video Override is turned off within the Font , Size , Color , and Opacity options.

To change the subtitles styling, go to the official Netflix website and Log in.

The next step is to head to Subtitle Appearance(direct link) and change the style to your liking.

The subtitles will change their appearance right after saving and will stay changed across all your video sessions in both web browser app and Windows App.

  2. Make sure you toggle the Video Override for each setting you change to the OFF position.
  3. After the subtitles customizing, return back to the Styles selection or to the Settings screen to save the style.
  4. The change will be immediate and you can head straight to Netflix app to test it out.
