How to kick people off your netflix account

It’s easy to kick people off your Netflix account using two simple methods. The easiest way is to sign out all devices currently connected to your account, while the second method is to change your password. We break down each method so you can choose which one works best for you.

Netflix is famed for being easy to share with friends and family. However, you can only have up to five profiles on a single Netflix account. Kicking people out of your account becomes necessary once you maxed out the number of devices currently using your Netflix account.

There are many other valid reasons to kick someone off your Netflix account. Maybe your ex still has your password, and you want to revoke that access after a breakup, or perhaps you just upgraded your phone. Whatever the reason, if you’ve reached the sharing limit on your own Netflix subscription, it might be time to remove other users from your account.

Fortunately, Netflix makes it easy to prevent or kick off someone from further using your account. Here’s what to do:

How to kick people off your Netflix account by signing out all devices

This method is the quickest way to kick off all the devices currently using your account, albeit with three drawbacks, but it’s definitely worth it if you want to stop people from using your Netflix account.

The first drawback is it may take up to eight hours for the device to logout — so if you want to watch Netflix right now, but all of your streaming slots are being used, you may have to ask one of the users to kindly stop watching, and log out of your account.

The second drawback is you can’t deactivate one device at a time — you’ll have to sign out all devices connected (to your Netflix account) at the same time.

The third drawback is that if someone has your password, they can still sign back in even after signing out their device from your account. The only way to fix this is to change your Netflix password.

To remove devices from your Netflix account:

1. Log into your Netflix account.

2. Hover over your profile icon at the top-right of the screen.

3. Click Account from the dropdown menu.

4. Click Sign Out of All Devices.

5. You’ll be prompted to confirm your decision; click the blue Sign Out button. Netflix will automatically sign out all the devices currently signed into your Netflix account. You will have to sign back in again with your new password on any devices you wish to use.

A banner will appear letting you know you’ve signed out all devices that were previously connected to your Netflix account. You’ll need to be patient as this may take up to eight hours to take effect.

How to kick people off your Netflix account by changing your password

Another option for protecting your Netflix account and preventing unwanted users from streaming a service you pay for is to change your password.

This method is more effective because it ensures that no one can sign back into your Netflix account after kicking them out.

To change your Netflix password:

1. Log into your Netflix account.

2. On a web browser, select your profile icon in the upper-right of the screen. On a mobile phone or tablet device (Netflix app — Android, iOS), tap More — the three stacked lines in the lower-right corner of the screen.

3. From the drop-down menu, select Account.

4. Go to Membership & Billing and click Change password. On a mobile or tablet device (Netflix app), Tap Change password located at the top of your account page.

5. Enter your current password and a new password twice.

6. To finally boot all currently logged-in devices using your Netflix account, check Require all devices to sign in again with a new password.

7. Click Save when you are done.

After you do the above steps, anyone trying to sign in again to your Netflix account won’t be able to do so unless you reveal your password to them.

Ultimately, the best way to kick someone off your Netflix account — If they know your password, is to change the password and shut them out.

How To Check If Someone Is Using Your Netflix Account

My Problem With Sharing Netflix

Like most of you, I also gave my Netflix credentials to a few friends and family members. However, after a month it turned out to be a mess with all those irrelevant TV shows and Movies in Continue Watching list and other recommendations. You can always delete items from the Continue Watching queue whenever desired but it is irritating to have to remove them all the time.

Moreover, while trying to watch a series I started getting error messages like:

  1. Sorry, too many people are using your account right now.
  2. Your Netflix account is in use on too many devices.

This was because there is a limit of 2-4 devices which can access the account at the same time. Now, if you are facing similar issues then you can get to know who is using your Netflix account.

When And Where Was Your Netflix Account Used?

1. Log in to your Netflix account and select the desired screen if you have a multi-screen subscription.

2. Hover over on your account thumbnail at the top right corner and select Account.

3. At the bottom click on Viewing Activity under My Profile.

4. Under My Activity, if you see there are TV shows or movies listed which you never watched or opened then definitely someone else has used it.

Even if all shows that are shown are opened by you, it is better to check from where your account was accessed and the device used for the same. For that, go back to the Account screen and click on Recent device streaming activity in the Settings section.

There you go! You will get a detailed list showing Date & Time, Location, device and even the IP address from which your account was accessed.

With this, you can easily make out if your account is compromised or not. If there are shows and devices that you recognize then all is good. But if you come across through any suspected device, it’s better to remove them from your Netflix account. Here’s how.

Wrapping Up

We hope that you were able to resolve the issues you were facing while trying to play TV shows or movies on Netflix. And are able to remove unnecessary people who might have sneaked into your Netflix account and were watching it for free, while you pay. Do share this article if you found it helpful.

It was nice while it lasted. You and the person you’ll now be removing from your Netflix account will now be parting ways. Hopefully, before you remove the person from your account, they know that you’ll be doing that. If not, they’re going to be really surprised when they try to log on and can’t.

Sometimes you have no choice but to remove someone since Netflix only lets you have a maximum of five profiles. So, if a family member needs their own profile, you might not have a choice but to kick off your friend. Before you erase that profile, keep in mind that it’s permanent and that the viewing history is gone for good.

How to Erase a Netflix Profile with an iPad or Android Device

To get rid of a profile using an iPad or Android device, you’ll need to open the Netflix app and tap on the three lines located at the top left of the display. Choose the profile you’re currently on and go to Who’s Watching.

Locate the Edit option at the top right and select the profile you want to get rid of. The final step is to choose the Delete button that should be on the right side of the For Kids/off slider. If you don’t see any changes, try login out and back in to see your changes.

How to Remove a Netflix Account with a Mac or PC

For those who just can’t stop using their faithful desktops, to erase a Netflix profile, you’ll need to open Netflix and when you’re at Who’s Watching (in the profile selection screen), and you see all the available profiles, click on Manage Profiles.

When you place the cursor on the profile you want to delete, you’ll see a pencil icon that you’ll need to click on. To the side of the Save and Cancel button, you should also see the Delete Profile button. One reason why you might not see the Delete button is that the user is signed in. You can ask the user to sign out of the account of you can remotely sign out of all accounts yourself.

How to Sign out of All Devices

If you can’t get a hold of the person or they simply don’t want to log out, drastic times call for extreme measures. You can force the person out of the account by signing out of all devices. But if you want to see the devices that are using your account before you sign them all out, you can do so by going to the Recent Device Streaming Activity page on the company’s official site. Remember to go to Settings > Recent device streaming activity.

Even after seeing all of the devices you still want to sign all of them out, you can do this by going to Settings > Sign out of all devices > Change Password (Under the Membership and Billing section) > Create a new password and then sign in with it.

It doesn’t happen all the time, but if you notice that nothing happened even though you’ve made the necessary changes, it might take as much as a few days for you to see the effects.

Conclusion

You can’t please everyone, and there will come a time when you’ll have to choose between who you’ll be sharing your Netflix account with. But, when you’ve made your choice, you know how to go about removing unwanted profiles.

How to kick people off your Netflix account

Hey everyone in today’s video. I wanted to show you how to kick anyone out of your Netflix account. So if you’ve shared your password and your username with other people that you don’t want to use your account any longer, there is an easy way to kick them out. Let me show you how to do it. You have to do this outside of the mobile app or your TV app.

You have to go to netflix.com. I’m on my phone here. You could do this on a computer, go to netflix.com and sign in to your account. So here I have a sign-in option. Same as true on a computer. Go ahead and sign in. So now that you’re signing into Netflix on a computer, this will be on the right side, but on the mobile devices on the left side, this browser version, click those three lines here and go to accounts on a desktop.

Look for the same option. Once you go to account here, you’ll have some options here. You could see your membership and billing change, email change, password, and so on. This is what we want to do. We want to change the password. So we want to type in our current password and new password. But what we really want to focus on is this checkbox here requires all devices to sign in again, with a new password.

You have to make sure you check that this will actually then require them to know the new password, which they won’t know because you’re going to change it right here. Once you’re done. Go ahead and press save. We’re not done here. It’s going to take us back to this account page and let me scroll down to show you one more thing.

You got to press come down to the settings part of the page here. The same thing with a computer, the settings of the page and there is an option that says sign out of all devices, press that and it says, are you sure you want to sign it off all devices? So anyone that has access to your passport or your account will be signed out and because you change your password and required them to put in the new password.

They were going to have to sign back in with that. Obviously, they won’t have that since you changed it and it says, this will take up to eight hours because some devices if they’re in the middle of a show, they’re not going to get kicked out right at that moment, but they will get kicked out the next time they press play.

So go ahead and sign up for all devices and with a new password, you could sign into the devices you actually want to, this will kick off every single other person. I hope you found this useful and you could take your Netflix account backed for yourself. Please give this video a thumbs up and subscribe to this channel.

I post super easy-to-follow tech videos, just like this one every single day with over 500 videos already made and I hope to catch you next time. Thanks for watching.
