How to turn off youtube restricted mode on your echo show (so videos aren’t missing from search results)

NSFW (or Not Safe For Work) is an abbreviation (Internet slang) that is used to label content (text, images, videos, and links) that would be embarrassing if watched on a public environment (at home, at work or school). NSFW-marked items may be sexual or sexually suggestive, profane, or show extreme violence. This article will get you to know how to enable or disable NSFW content on Reddit.

Reddit and NSFW Content

If you want to consume NSFW content (it’s okay, no need to feel a type of way), you can just enable it on Reddit. Then, you should make sure that you watch or read it away from ‘the public’. On the flip side, you can disable it and consume what is SFW (Safe for Work) only.

Since Reddit is available on both the app and the web, this article will provide you with enabling/disabling steps on both platforms. The steps should work properly whether you’re using an iPhone, an iPad, an Android, a Mac, a Linux, or a Windows PC.

Enabling and Disabling on the app

  1. From your home screen, tap on the app’s icon to launch it. Make sure that you are logged in to your account.
  2. On the screen that opens, tap on the icon at the top-left corner to draw out your profile’s menu. Alternatively, you can slide right.
  3. Tap on ‘Settings’ button that is at the bottom of the menu.
  4. When the ‘Settings’ menu displays, tap on the ‘Show NSFW content (I’m over 18)’ to toggle the button on (it will change to blue).

If you’re not 18 and over, it is safe that you keep away from all this NSFW thing.

  1. Once this is done, you realize that the ‘Blur NSFW Images’ button gets activated too. If you wish to see NSFW images clear, tap the button and turn it off.

Now, NSFW feeds will appear on your Reddit’s timeline and images will show clearly.

  1. Disabling the function needs you to do steps 1 – 3, and then on step 4, tap on the button to toggle it off.

Enabling and Disabling on the web

On the web, you can mark your account as NSFW and also enable your viewing of adult and NSFW content.

To mark your account as NSFW, see below:

  1. On your browser, visit the website and make sure that you are logged in to your account.
  2. On the home page, click on the down arrow next to your Reddit’s username.
  3. Then, click on ‘User Settings’.
  4. On the page that opens, tap on the ‘Profile’ tab and slide to the ‘Profile Category’ section.
  5. Click on the toggle button next to the NSFW label. A ‘Changes Saved’ message will appear.
  6. Deactivating this setting is simple – just reverse step 5 above. Reddit will give you a prompt that warns you about sharing NSFW content without marking your account first – that you can be suspended.

To enable NSFW content to appear on your feeds:

  1. Under ‘User Settings’, click on the ‘Feed Settings’ tab.
  2. Under ‘Content Preferences’, click on the button next to ‘Adult Content’.
  3. After the changes are saved, you should be expecting NSFW feeds on your timeline.

Read this, it’s safe for work (giggles)

If you want to share steamy hot or crazy mad content and you want to avoid getting into trouble with Reddit, mark your account as an NSFW account first (do it via the web).

Also, remember not to be in ‘public’ as you scroll through your feeds if your account is NSFW-viewing enabled.

For users of the Old Reddit, consider using this link to make the changes.

One of the most useful ways to log and troubleshoot the behavior of commands or batch jobs that you run on Windows is to redirect output to a file.

However, there are a few different ways you can redirect command line writes to a file. The option you choose depends on how you want to view your command output.

How Windows Command Prompt Output Works

When you type a command in the Windows console (command prompt), the output from that command goes to two separate streams.

  • STDOUT: Standard Out is where any standard responses from commands go. For example the standard response for the DIR command is a list of files inside a directory.
  • STDERR: Standard Error is where any error messages go if there’s a problem with the command. For example if there aren’t any files in the directory, the DIR command will output “File Not Found” to the Standard Error stream.

You can redirect output to a file in Windows for both of these output streams.

Redirect Standard Output Write to New File

There are two ways you can redirect standard output of a command to a file. The first is to send the command output write to a new file every time you run the command.

To do this, open the command prompt and type:

The > character tells the console to output STDOUT to the file with the name you’ve provided.

When you run this command, you’ll notice that there isn’t any response in the command window except the error that the file doesn’t exist.

This is because the standard output for the command was redirected to a file called myoutput.txt. The file now exists in the same directory where you ran the command. The standard error output still displays as it normally does.

Note: Be careful to change the active directory for the command prompt before running the command. This way you’ll know where the output files are stored.

You can view the standard output that went to the file by typing “myoutput.txt” in the command window. This will open the text file in your default text file viewer. For most people, this is usually Notepad.exe.

The next time you run the same command, the previous output file will be deleted. A new output file will be recreated with the latest command’s output.

Redirect Standard Output Writes to the Same File

What if you don’t want to overwrite the same file? Another option is to use >> rather than > to redirect to an output file. In the case of this example, you would type:

You’ll see the same output (the error only).

But in this case, instead of overwriting the output file, this command appends the new output to the existing output file.

Every time you run a command and append the output to a file, it’ll write the new standard output to the end of the existing file.

Redirect Standard Error To a File

The same way you can redirect standard output writes to a file, you can also output the standard error stream to a file.

To do this, you’ll need to add 2> to the end of the command, followed by the output error file you want to create.

In this example, you’ll type the command:

This sends the standard output stream to myoutput.txt, and the standard error stream to output.err. The result is that no output stream at all gets displayed in the console window.

However, you can see the error messages by typing output.err. This will open the file in your default text file viewer.

As you can see, any error messages from the command are output to the error file. Just as with the standard output, you can use >> instead to append the error to errors from previously run commands.

Redirect All Output Writes to a Same File

All of the approaches above result in multiple files. One file is for the standard output stream and the other is for the standard error stream.

If you want to include both of these outputs to the same file, you can do that too. To do this, you just need to redirect all output to the same file using the following command.

Here’s how this command works:

  • The standard output is directed to the output file identified by output number 1.
  • The standard error output identified by the number 2 is redirected to the output file identified by number 1.

This will append the error output to the end of the standard output.

This is a useful way to see all output for any command in one file.

Silencing Standard or Error Output Streams

You can also turn off either Standard Output or Standard Error by redirecting the output to a NUL instead of a file.

Using the example above, if you only want Standard Output and no Standard Error at all, you can use the following command:

This will result in the same output file as the first example above where you only redirected the Standard Output, but with this command the error won’t echo inside the console. It won’t create an error log file either.

This is useful if you don’t care about any errors and don’t want them to become a nuisance.

You can perform any of the same output commands above from inside a BAT file and the output from that line will go to the output file you specify. This is a useful way to see whether any commands within a BAT file had any errors when they tried to run.

However, there’s no need to get frustrated. The only thing you need to disable the Amazon For Kids mode is the Parental Controls password. This article will explain everything that you need to know.

Disabling Fire for Kids

If you want to exit the Amazon Fire ‘For Kids’ mode, you just need to access the ‘Parent Settings’ menu. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the quick access bar by swiping down from the top of the screen.

In some versions of Kindle Fire, you may see the ‘Exit Fire For Kids’ in the ‘Settings’ menu. In that case, it’s enough just to tap it and enter the parental control password. This will automatically exit the For Kids mode.

You may follow the same steps to reactivate Fire For Kids. Of course, you’ll need to know your password.

The next few sections will explain how to set up and manage the Fire For Kids account.

What Can You Do on Amazon for Kids?

Amazon’s Fire For Kids app isn’t an ordinary parental control mode. When you activate it, your device will automatically switch all its permissions, apps, and content to child-friendly mode.

The device will block your child from launching any social app, prevent in-app purchases, location-based services, and limit access to the Silk Browser.

The mode allows you to add various content to the child’s profile (you can make up to four children profiles), subscribe to the Fire For Kids Unlimited app for countless new content every month, and even set up goals and track the progress of your child.

To do all this, you’ll need to set up a parental control password. Otherwise, you’ll be unable to exit the app, or even enable or disable wireless.

How Do You Set Up Fire for Kids?

If you want to set up the Fire For Kids app, you just need to activate it from the ‘Apps’ menu. Do the following:

  1. Go to the home screen of your Fire device.
  2. Select Apps.

Managing Amazon for Kids Profile

The easiest way to manage your Amazon For Kids profile is to access the app from the home screen.

  1. Tap the ‘Apps’ menu from your Fire’s home screen.
  2. Find and enter the ‘Fire For Kids’ app.

From this menu, you can add and remove content that will be displayed during the Fire for Kids mode. In addition, you can manage your in-app subscriptions (e.g. Fire For Kids Unlimited), set up daily educational goals and include time limits.

There’s plenty of other things that you can do from this menu, such as managing and customizing data for each of your children’s profiles.

You can go to any of the profiles and enter your desired content library (books, audio, or other). New items are frequently added and you can choose which items to install or to remove from the device.

What If You Forget Amazon for Kids Password

If you forget your Amazon For Kids Password, there’s no need to worry. You can reset and choose another one directly from your Fire tablet. Here’s what you should do:

  1. Enter the wrong parental controls password five times.
  2. Tap the ‘Reset Your Parental Controls Password’ link when a new dialog box appears. If you can’t locate it, you may need to scroll to the bottom of the window.

  3. Input your Amazon credentials (the Amazon account user name and password that you’ve used when you set up the Fire device)

  5. Tap OK.

After you’ve done this, you should be able to use the new password to manage or disable your Amazon For Kids mode.

Be in Total Control

Thanks to the Amazon For Kids, you can safely give the Fire tablet to your child and save yourself from stress and frustration.

They won’t be able to accidentally remove or modify any data or access the device’s settings. Furthermore, they’ll need your permission for most of the content on the device. On the other hand, they can access educational and child entertainment content easily.
