Bandymas prisiminti, remiantis vien pavadinimais, kokia tvarka eina knygų serija, gali būti gana nemalonu. Skaitykite toliau, kai parodysime, kaip anotuoti ir rūšiuoti knygų pavadinimus, kai jie perkeliami į jūsų el. Knygų skaitytuvą, kad galėtumėte skaityti be nusivylimo.

Čia yra dažna situacija: jūs perkėlėte knygų seriją į savo el. Knygų skaityklę ir, patekę į skaitytoją, nėra jokio paprasto būdo atskirti knygas. Ar Paslaptinga ranča ateiti anksčiau Paslaptingas vidurio amžius? Galėtumėte patirti didžiulį vargą pervadindami kiekvieną serijos knygą, į kurios pavadinimą turite įtraukti serijos ir serijos numerį, tačiau to daryti nereikia. Dėl labai patogios populiarios elektroninių knygų tvarkymo programos „Caliber“ funkcijos tereikia kelių minučių pakoreguoti, kad galėtumėte mėgautis automatiškai pervadintomis ir tinkamai sunumeruotomis knygomis savo el. Knygų skaitytuve.

Ko man reikia?

Niekada nebeliksite bandyti prisiminti, kokia tvarka jūsų knygos eina.

Ar turite saldų kalibro ar el. Knygų skaitytojo triuką, kuriuo galėtumėte pasidalinti? Girdėkime apie tai komentaruose.

Budur adi bir vəziyyət: bir sıra kitabları e-kitab oxuyucunuza köçürdünüz və bir dəfə oxucuda kitabları ayırmağın asan yolu yoxdur. Edir Sirli Ranch əvvəl gəl Sirli Orta Əsr Müasir? Seriyanı və seriya nömrəsini başlığa əlavə etməlisiniz, hər seriya kitabının adının dəyişdirilməsində böyük bir çətinlikdən keçə bilərsiniz, amma buna ehtiyac yoxdur. Məşhur ebook idarəetmə tətbiqi Caliber-də çox lazımlı bir funksiya sayəsində ebook oxuyucunuzda avtomatik olaraq dəyişdirilən və düzgün nömrələnmiş kitablardan zövq almaq üçün bir neçə dəqiqəlik dəyişiklik lazımdır.

Nəyə ehtiyacım var?

Bu təlimat üçün yalnız elektron kitab oxuyucunuza və pulsuz vasitələrə ehtiyacınız olacaq. Budur istifadə etdiyimiz şey:

  • Caliber (pulsuz və açıq mənbəli ebook meneceri).
  • A Kindle (bu hiylə Nooks və digər ebook oxucuları ilə də işləyir).

  • Sirli Ev
  • Sirli Saray
  • Sirli Saray
  • Sirli Bungalov

Special thanks to MobileRead member chaley for creating the Plugboard feature.

Plugboards: Are used to control the folder structure and file name when saving files from the Calibre library to the disk or eBook reader. It is also used to define “virtual” columns that contain data from other columns and so on.

In simpler terms, Plugboards will allow us to use eBook metadata to control how eBooks appear on our Kindles. Specifically for this wiki guide, plugboards allow us show on our Kindles, eBooks that are in a series and have been numbered in reading order.

This will be a very simple guide but if you want to learn to use the more advanced features of Plugboards, please see chaley’s Plugboard, template, and custom composite column recipes thread on MobileRead and The calibre template language tutorial page of the Calibre User Manual.

About calibre

Calibre is a free, open source, ebook management and conversion utility created and maintained by Kovid Goyal. It is available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

Calibre cannot, on its own, remove DRM from ebooks. However, it is possible to added third-party software (‘plugins’) to enhance calibre.

To be able to use the DeDRM plugin for calibre, it is necessary to install calibre first. The latest version can be downloaded from http://calibre-ebook.com/download.

The DeDRM plugin for calibre

The DRM removal plugin (DeDRM_plugin.zip) can be found in the tools archive linked from the most recent post in this blog. The DeDRM plugin can remove DRM from Kindle eBooks (but not rented Kindle ebooks, books downloaded to a Kindle Fire, Kindle for iOS or the Windows Store Kindle App), Barnes & Noble ePub ebooks (but not books downloaded to the Windows Store Nook App) , any ebooks using Adobe Digital Editions DRM (this includes ePubs from Kobo and Sony that are downloaded for Adobe Digital Editions), and the older Mobipocket and eReader ebooks. For other kinds of ebooks see the other posts in this blog.

Installing the DeDRM plugin for calibre

  1. Download the latest tools package, and unzip it.
(On Windows, right-click and “Extract All…”; After extracting all, rename the tools_vX.X.X.zip file to tools_zipped_vX.X.X.zip to prevent later confusion)
  2. Run calibre. From the Preferences menu select “Change calibre behavior”.
(Do not click “Get plugins to enhance calibre”, that option is reserved for ‘official’ calibre plugins.)
  3. Click on Plugins (under “Advanced”) — it looks like a jigsaw puzzle piece.
  4. Click on the large “Load plugin from file” button
  5. Navigate to the tools folder unzipped in step 2
  6. Open the “DeDRM_calibre_plugin” folder
  7. Select the DeDRM_plugin.zip file in that folder
  8. Click on the “Add” (sometimes “Open”) button.
  9. Click on the “Yes” button in the “Are you sure?” warning dialog that appears. A “Success” dialog will appear, saying that the plug-in has been installed. Click on “OK”.

Customising the plugin with encryption keys

On Macintosh and Windows systems no customisation is required for ebooks from Kindle for Mac/PC, Nook Study, or Adobe Digital Editions (ADE), provided that calibre is run on the same computer and user account as the installation of Kindle for Mac/PC, Nook Study, or ADE to which the books were downloaded. The default key is found and stored in the preferences automatically. Anyone using Linux should read the ReadMe file for details of how to obtain the keys manually.

For other sources of ebooks, or on Linux systems, you must configure the plugin. To configure the plugin, you must find it in the list of plugins. Usually calibre will have automatically selected the DeDRM plugin after you add it. If not, the DeDRM plugin can be found under “File Type plugins”. It might easier to find if you check the “Show only user installed plugins” checkbox. You might need to click on the triangle next to the “File Type plugins” label to show the list of File Type plugins.

If it’s not already selected, click on the DeDRM plugin in the list to select it, and then click on the Customize plugin button. This will open that main “Customise DeDRM” dialog which contains a set of buttons describing different type and sources of ebooks. If you have DRMed ebooks that match the description on any of the buttons, you will need to click on the button and enter the required information in the sub-dialog that will pop up.

All the dialogs have a help link in the top right of the dialog, that gives further information about the required information.

When all the configuration for your DRMed ebooks has been entered, click “OK” in the main dialog to save all the information you’ve entered. You’re now ready to remove the DRM from your ebooks.

Using the DeDRM calibre plugin

The DeDRM calibre plugin removes DRM from ebooks as they are imported into calibre. So to use the plugin, just import your DRMed ebooks into calibre, and the DRM will be removed. If you have already imported your ebooks into calibre, you will need to remove the DRMed ebooks and import them again.

You can check that the DRM has been removed from an imported ebook by trying to view it using calibre’s built-in viewer. Note that for .azw3 Kindle ebooks you might need to check a checkbox in calibre’s preferences to say that .azw3 ebooks should be viewed using calibre’s internal viewer.

If things go wrong

The calibre developers are not involved in the development of the DRM removal plugin, and are not able to help with any DRM removal questions. If you have any difficulties following the instructions in this post, the calibre developers will not be able to help.

You must ask any questions about installing or using the DeDRM calibre plugin in a comment to most recent post on this blog.

Calibre is an open-source software that is used for eBook management, editing and distribution. With it, you can easily organize eBooks and convert them into other formats. It can also be used to convert documents into other formats, although it works better with Epub. But Calibre can be difficult to use for the beginner and editing and eBook is not as straight-forwards as it should be. Now, let’s see how to convert PDF to Epub using Calibre.
Since it fundamentally handles EPUB eBooks, Caliber may not be the perfect arrangement in the event that you need to edit a PDF before converting it or if the PDF document you want to convert has a lot of images. While Calibre offers a free way to convert PDF to Epub, most users need a comprehensive solution that will convert PDF to Epub better than Calibre. This article shares that comprehensive solution in the form of a highly effective Calibre alternative – PDFelement ProPDFelement Pro.

Part 1. How to Convert PDF to Epub with Calibre Alternative

Converting PDF to Epub is not a process that needs to be difficult or time-consuming. And with PDFelement Pro, the process is both effective and simple. To use it, you first need to download and install the program to your computer (It is compatible with all versions of macOS including 10.15 Catalina) and then open it. Then, follow these simple steps to convert PDF to Epub using PDFelement Pro.

Step 1. Import a PDF File to the Program

The first thing you need to do is open the PDF document you want to convert to Epub. You can easily import the document by clicking on the ‘Convert PDF‘ tab on the main window and select the file you need. You can also simply drag and drop the PDF file you need to this main window to open it. Alternatively, you can click on the ‘Open File‘ button at the bottom of the page to select the PDF file you need from your computer.

Step 2. Convert PDF to Epub without Losing Format

Once the PDF document is open, you need to select the output format. To do this, click on the ‘Save as type‘ dropdown menu and then select ‘Epub‘ as the output format. Once you selected the output format and output folder, you can simply click on the ‘Save‘ button to convert PDF to Epub.

How to use calibre to correctly order your ebook series

Step 3. Save PDF

After you click the ‘Save‘ button, the program will immediately begin converting PDF to Epub without losing format. In a few minutes your PDF will be converted to Epub. Then it will remind you to click ‘Open‘ to open the local folder.

How to use calibre to correctly order your ebook series

This PDF to Epub converter offers you more options than just the ability to convert PDF to Epub and unlike Calibre; the process is simple, straightforward and effective. Except converting PDF to Epub, you can also use this PDF tool to edit texts, links, images and pages in PDF files easily. With the advanced OCR feature, you can easily convert and edit scanned PDF files with ease.

The following are just some of the features that make PDFelement Pro:

  • It is very useful when you need to edit any aspect of the PDF document including all images before converting to Epub.
  • You can convert any PDF document to a number of formats including HTML, Epub, Pages, Word and many other formats.
  • After conversion, all elements of the PDF document will be transferred to the Epub document including the images without distortion.
  • You can secure the document by adding a watermark, passwords or even redacting parts of the documents.

Part 2. How to Convert PDF to Epub with Calibre

1. How to Turn PDF into Epub on Mac

Like we mentioned before, Calibre is also a PDF to Epub converter which offers a simple way to convert PDF to Epub. Converting PDF to Epub using Calibre is relatively simple but it lacks some of the more advanced features that PDFelement Pro has. You can choose the most suitable PDF to Epub converter according to your own needs. The following is a quick guide to convert PDF to Epub using Calibre.

Step 1. Open the PDF you want to convert

To begin, you first need to install Calibre on your computer if you haven’t already. Once the program is installed, the next step is to open the PDF document you need to convert. Calibre offers you a number of ways to open the PDF, you can click on “Add Books” at the top menu and then browse for the PDF you need. But perhaps the easiest way to open the PDF is to simply drag and drop the document into Calibre’s main window.

Step 2. Convert PDF to Epub using Calibre

Once the document is open in Calibre, all you need to do is click “Convert E-books” in the main menu. When you do this, you will see the “Input format” which should be PDF and the “Output format”. Click on the arrows next to the “Output format” to select “Epub” as output format and Calibre will begin converting the document almost immediately. You can then add the converted Epub to your e-readers.

2. Frequently asked questions about using Calibre to convert PDF to Epub

While Calibre works very well when converting other formats like Word or MOBI to Epub, many users have reported problems with converting PDF to Epub using Calibre. Many simply say the resultant document in Epub format looks nothing like the PDF original. Even Calibre admits that converting PDF to Epub using Calibre is very difficult and more often than not, the result will not be perfect. The main reason why it is not easy to covert PDF to Epub on Calibre is because PDF comes with a fixed page size and text placement, meaning Calibre may have a difficult time determining where one paragraph ends and another begins.
Some of the other limitations users may face when trying to convert PDF to Epub on Calibre include the following:

  • Calibre doesn’t support the conversion of image-rich PDF documents.
  • You will also not be able to convert a PDF document that has a lot of vector images and tables.
  • Any HTML links and Table of Contents within the PDF document will not be converted.
  • PDF documents that contain non-Unicode fonts or non-English characters may not be converted correctly using Calibre. The characters will not appear as they did in the original document.
  • PDF documents that have photographs or complex text like math typesetting or languages that are written from right to left will not be converted correctly.

Therefore, Calibre may not be the ideal tool to use if your PDF document contains more than text. Even in documents that don’t have any images, it may still prove challenging to convert using Calibre. Calibre doesn’t recommend that you convert from PDF to Epub.
With Calibre, the process to convert PDF to Epub may take longer than it needs to and you may still end up with a few problems. With PDFelement Pro for Mac, you can easily convert even the most complex PDF to Epub in a few simple clicks. Furthermore, you can significantly edit any PDF document before you convert the document to make sure you get it just the way you want it.

When you do, you might find it hard to get them on your device. Kindles are very particular when it comes to file formats. There’s this powerful tool called calibre. It can manage all your eBooks, no matter where they came from and help you select the ones that will get on your device. With it, you can track which books you read and which ones you liked. It can download covers and metadata or compile a series of novels. It can also convert books from one format to another and even make your personal documents into eBooks. Kindle applications just don’t measure up to what calibre is capable of.

How to Set Up Your Library

You open calibre and plug your Kindle with USB for the first time. The program will scan its contents and create a file with metadata – this will allow you to control what eBooks from your library are on the device and vice versa.

Unfortunately, you cannot transfer eBooks you bought on Amazon from your Kindle to the calibre library directly. If you want to copy them:

  1. First, log in to your Amazon account.
  2. Then, choose “Manage Your Content and Devices” from the “My Account” tab.
  3. Finally, click “Download & transfer via USB” from under the “Actions” button.

You will be prompted to select which device you’ll read this eBook on. This question pops up because of the DRM protection Amazon puts on eBooks they sell.To add the files, you just downloaded, to your calibre library, just drag-and-drop them to the calibre’s main window.Sending content from your calibre library to your Kindle is much easier. We’ll get to that in a bit.

How to Convert eBooks Using calibre

Let’s say you downloaded an eBook from somewhere on the Internet (say, The Gutenberg Project). But it turns out it’s in a different format than mobi or azw. Most likely, epub.Epub is the most popular eBook format and most eReaders support it because it’s open-source. Kindle devices, however, do not. Amazon uses its own two file formats: the older, mobi and the newer, azw (also: azw3). Both are Amazon’s property but offer a wider selection of options (e.g. adding a built-in dictionary or support for annotations and comments). The azw format was built upon mobi and offers better compression and encryption. If you want the eBook on your Kindle, you need to convert it to mobi or azw first. When you opened calibre for the very first time, you went through the configuration wizard. During this process, you already told calibre what device you use. Because of that calibre already chose the best file formats to convert to and you don’t even have to convert your eBooks by yourself, just send them and calibre will do the rest.

How to Send Your eBook to Kindle Using calibre

Okay, you prepared your eBook. Now, what? How to transfer them to your Kindle and start reading? Let’s dive in.

Sending eBooks To Kindle Via USB

If you want to setup or change this email, log in to your Amazon account and then:

  1. Go to “Manage Your Content and Devices” and choose the “Your Devices” tab.
  2. Then, click “Edit” by the mail listing.

To manage your emails in calibre:

  1. First, click “Preferences” in the main window.
  2. Then, select “Sharing books by email” in the “Sharing” section.
  3. Finally, you can add new emails by pressing the “Add email” button and remove old ones by pressing the “Remove email” button.
  4. The e-mail displayed in the menu in “Connect/share” is whichever address you made default. To make an address default, press the “Make default” button.

If you don’t get the eBooks you sent with email on your Kindle shortly, consider using an email relay like GMX.

Welcome back, calibre users. It has been a year since calibre 4.0. The two headline features are Highlighting support in the calibre E-book viewer and that calibre has now moved to Python 3.

There has been a lot of work on the calibre E-book viewer. It now supports Highlighting. The highlights can be colors, underlines, strikethrough, etc. and have added notes. All highlights can be both stored in EPUB files for easy sharing and centrally in the calibre library for easy browsing. Additionally, the E-book viewer now supports both vertical and right-to-left text.

calibre has moved to using Python 3. This is because Python 2 was end-of-lifed this year. This should be completely transparent to calibre users, the only caveat being that some third party calibre plugins have not yet been ported to Python 3 and therefore will not work in calibre 5. For status on the various plugin ports, see here. This effort involved porting half-a-million lines of Python code and tens-of-thousands of lines of extension code to Python 3. This would not have been possible without the help of Eli Schwartz and Flaviu Tamas.

    Highlighting in the E-book viewer

You can now highlight text in the E-book viewer. Highlights can be created in many styles, with associated notes. By default, when highlighting EPUB books, the highlights are stored in the book file itself for easy sharing. They are also stored centrally in the calibre library and can be browsed using the Browse annotations tool that you can access by right clicking the View button.

Highlights can be created by simply selecting text and clicking the Highlight selection button.

Highlighting even works using the in-browser viewer that is part of the calibre Content server. You can choose to have highlights created there sync automatically with highlights created in the calibre E-book viewer via a setting in the Miscellaneous section of the E-book viewer preferences.

calibre now fully supports dark mode throughout, in the main interface, the E-book viewer, the E-book editor and even the Content server. On Windows and macOS dark mode is activated automatically based on operating system settings. On Linux you have to set the CALIBRE_USE_DARK_PALETTE=1 environment variable.

The E-book viewer now supports enhanced searches with whole word, regular expressions, etc. Search results are displayed grouped by chapter. There is a button that takes you back to where in the book you were after you are done searching.

There are a few minor backwards incompatibilities to be aware of in calibre 5

  • Because calibre has now moved to Python 3, some third party plugins will no longer work, until they are also ported to Python 3. For status on the plugin porting effort, see here.
  • Because of the support for library wide annotations, the database format was slightly changed. While calibre 4.23 is able to open and operate with calibre 5 databases, older versions of calibre may have trouble.

This is an appropriate time to throw out a big thank you to the calibre community who have contributed selflessly of their energy and enthusiasm — without which many of the features above would never have seen the light of day.

Note that some of these features were actually introduced during the lifetime of the 4.x series. This document describes new features as compared to 4.0

Last week Amazon released a new software update for Kindles that didn’t seem very interesting on the surface, but it turns out they did add an important new feature not mentioned in the release notes.

Kindles running firmware 5.13.4 now have the option to group books together that are in a series.

They added series support as a new option in settings that can be turned on and off by going to Settings > Device Options > Advanced Options > Home & Library > Group Series in Library.

Some folks at MobileRead noticed the new unannounced feature and have been testing it out.

After enabling the setting your Kindle will show a message on the homescreen saying this: “Kindle has begun grouping series in your library. You can view individual books by tapping on the series group cover. This feature can be turned off in settings.”

Once enabled, books that you have downloaded in a series will be grouped together automatically. It will show a cover for the first book with a number in the lower corner that indicates how many books are grouped, and when you tap the book it will open a page showing the books in series view, with a number below each book to show the order, and a link at the bottom to view the full series in the Kindle Store to easily find additional books in the series.

Series grouping is something other devices like Kobos and Nooks have had for a long time so it’s nice to see Kindles finally getting the option as well.

If you want to try out the new series grouping feature on your Kindle, just install the latest 5.13.4 software update and enable the option in settings. Unfortunately it does not appear to work with sideloaded books, only books purchased from Amazon.

This article outlines how to convert EPUB files and other file types into a format compatible with a Kindle.

One option is to use the Kindle Personal Document Service and have Amazon convert the files into their proprietary AZW format. The downside is that only certain formats can be converted. For other file types you’ll need to learn how to convert them yourself using the instructions below.

Once you have the proper software installed, converting PDF, EPUB, LIT, and other formats into a Kindle-compatible format takes a few quick steps for any non-encrypted ebooks and documents.

To begin, skim the format list below to see if the format you are trying to convert is supported by the Kindle conversion service. If not, skip down to the next section to learn how to use Calibre to convert formats.

Amazon’s Format Conversion

When using the Kindle Personal Document Service to convert formats, you can have the converted files sent to your Kindle wirelessly over 3G for a delivery fee or have them sent for free via Wi-Fi or you can get them delivered by email to transfer them to a Kindle via USB.

Amazon will convert and wirelessly deliver the following format types:

  • Microsoft Word (.DOC) and (.DOCX)
  • Structured HTML (.HTML) and (.HTM)
  • Rich Text Format (.RTF)
  • Text (.TXT)
  • PDF (.PDF)
  • Kindle Format (.MOBI, .AZW)
  • Images: JPEG, GIF, PNG, and BMP

To make converting multiple files easier, the above formats can be packaged into a single ZIP file and sent to the Kindle conversion service.

Tip: The easiest and quickest way to send files to your Kindle is to use one of the Send to Kindle apps. Amazon has programs for Windows and Mac, and they also offer plugins for Chrome and Firefox browsers to send web clippings to your Kindle. Otherwise you can use the email method outlined below.

Setting Up the Kindle Conversion Service

Go to Amazon’s Manage Your Kindle page and sign-in to your Amazon account. Then click on “Edit Info” under the Kindle section. Change the Kindle email address to whatever you want or leave it as is—then memorize it or write it down, save changes, and close the pop-up.

Paid Delivery: If you want to pay to have the converted documents delivered to your Kindle wirelessly via Whispernet, scroll down to the section labeled “Your Kindle Approved E-mail List”. Add the email address from the previous step to your Kindle’s whitelist, (your-choice)@kindle.com.

The delivery fee is 15 cents per MB in the US and 99 cents per MB outside the US. A typical ebook ranges from 1/3 to 3/4 of a MB.

Free Delivery: To avoid wireless delivery charges, you can have the converted documents delivered to your primary email address to add to your Kindle via USB cable, or have them delivered to a Kindle with WiFi so that you don’t get charged a delivery fee for using the 3G wireless. Just send the files to this address instead of the paid delivery one shown above, (your-choice)@free.kindle.com.

If you are having trouble with any of this, see Amazon’s format conversion help page.

Converting Formats Using Amazon’s Conversion Service

  1. Open a new email.
  2. Put (your-choice)@kindle.com into the address line for paid delivery to your Kindle, or put (your-choice)@free.kindle.com to have the files delivered to the primary email address associated with your Amazon account.
  3. Attach the files you want to convert to the email (25 max and 50MB each max).
  4. Send email—no subject or writing needed unless the file you want to convert is a file type that is supported, such as PDF, in which case you’ll need to type “convert” into the subject line. Otherwise it will just send the PDF to the Kindle as is, instead of converting it.

Conversion typically takes anywhere from a few seconds to 5 minutes.

Using Calibre to Convert Formats for Kindle

Calibre is the most comprehensive, easy to use ebook managing tool there is. If you haven’t downloaded and set up Calibre yet, visit this other post on how to get started with Calibre eBook Managemant.

During the Calibre setup process, make sure to select Amazon Kindle when the wizard asks for a default device. This will ensure that EPUB and other formats are automatically converted to MOBI for optimal viewing on the Kindle.

Converting Formats With Calibre

According to the Calibre manual, the following format types can be converted to a Kindle format (MOBI): CBZ, CBR, CBC, CHM, EPUB, FB2, HTML, LIT, LRF, ODT, PDF, PRC, PDB, PML, RB, RTF, TCR, TXT.

Some file types convert better than others. EPUB to MOBI and vice versa usually works really well. You can also try applying some advanced code and settings for complex conversions of specific formats as outlined in the Calibre conversion manual.

Once you’ve got Calibre installed and up and running and have added some ebooks to the library, you can start converting the documents and ebooks one at a time by highlighting them and clicking the “Convert eBooks” button. Highlight multiple documents by holding down shift or control while clicking to convert them all at once. By selecting one at a time you can edit the books metadata (title, author, series, etc) and description.

An easier way is to just plug the Kindle to the computer’s USB, let Calibre detect it, and then click on the ebooks you want to send to the Kindle and click “Send to Device”. Calibre will automatically convert them to MOBI as it sends them to the Kindle.

Free Wireless Delivery

One last thing to note, Calibre has a built-in web server that you can setup to access your ebook collection using the Kindle’s web browser. Calibre can also email your books, news, and documents to a Kindle using a free gmail account. These can be set up in the Preferences menu.
