If you are a Spotify subscriber who has decided to give other music-subscription services a try, you can end your Premium subscription at any time, which reverts your account back to the free service when the current subscription period runs out.
But if you’re positive that you won’t be coming back at all, you might be considering closing your Spotify account.
In this post, we’re going to lay out the steps involved in permanently deleting accounts on Spotify.
Spotify’s mobile apps don’t provide the option to delete accounts and the previously available account deletion links on the webpage are no longer available. Instead, you now must contact Spotify Support and send them an account deletion request via email.
How to delete Spotify account
Step 1: Visit Spotify’s contact form in a browser and sign in with your user name and password.
Step 2: Select any category.
Step 3: A new webpage will load with various topics. Select any topic to continue.
Step 4: Choose the green I Still Need Help button at the bottom.
Step 5: Type anything in the “Tell us more” field. For instance, I just entered “I want to close my Spotify account.”
Step 6: Click the Send Question button to send your query to Spotify in the form of an email message using your email address on file.
Step 7: You will receive an auto-response directing you back to the Spotify Community. Don’t fret: just reply directly to that email with a request to delete your account and your message will reach one of Spotify’s human agents, who will take it from there.
Step 8: You might need to follow up on that email with any information necessary to confirm your identity, like your date of birth. It might be a good idea to whitelist spotify.com so that emails from support staff don’t get classed as spam.
Step 9: Spotify will issue an email within a few days to confirm that your account has been successfully deleted. Now you can uninstall Spotify from your laptop, desktop, tablets and mobile devices.
Closing your account will prevent you from accessing any of the information stored on it, including your custom playlists and offline songs. You also won’t be able to sign up again for Spotify with the same user name.

Spotify is one of the top music streaming services, offering free and paid options and providing access to more than 30 million songs online.
For $9.99 a month, Premium adds some nice bells and whistles. But even the freebie gives you the opportunity to search for and play your favorite tunes. That sounds great, but maybe you don’t use it enough to justify the monthly cost. Perhaps you’ve switched to a rival service like Apple Music. Whatever the reason, you can remove your ties to Spotify.
First, let’s take a quick look at Spotify. You can download it for Windows, the Mac, the iPhone or iPad, and Android devices. After you’ve set up your account, launch Spotify on your device. You can listen to online radio stations of different genres. You can create and discover playlists based on your musical tastes. And best of all, you can track down your favorite tunes and add them to your own playlists.
The free version limits you to shuffle play, so you have no control over the order in which your songs play. The paid Premium version adds in high-quality audio, unlimited skips, an ad-free experience, the option to play any tune in your collection, and a way to listen to music offline. You can also opt for a family account to the tune of $14.99 a month. Still want to cancel? No problem.
Deleting a Free Account
First surf to the Spotify website and click on the Log in link. Enter your account credentials. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the About link.
At the About Us page, click on the Contact Us link in the Customer Service section. At the Contact Spotify page, click on the Account category.
At the next page, click on the topic for “I want to close my Spotify account permanently.” At the next page to Permanently Close Account, click Close Account.
At the “We’re sad you want to leave us” page, click on the Close Account button.
Spotify confirms the account you wish to close. Click on the Continue button.
Spotify tries one last time to keep your account alive, telling you that you’ll lose your username, playlists, and other features. If you’re still determined, click on the checkbox for “I understand, and still want to close my account” and then click Continue.
As your final step, you have to click on a button to “Close My Account” in a verification message sent to your email address. After you do that, you’ve finally broken up with Spotify.
Cancel Spotify Premium
Okay, now let’s go over the process for cancelling a paid Spotify subscription. Log into to Spotify. Click on your name in the upper-right corner and click on the link for Account.
