How to Devote a Day to Relaxing and Pampering Yourself at Home

Everyone needs a day off once in a while. You just want to relax and rejuvenate, and all you need to do is make a few preparations ahead of time. From a spa day to just vegging out, choose what you think will make you the most relaxed.

Edit Steps

Edit Preparing for the Day

  1. Clear your schedule. Obviously, you don’t want to have to run to the dentist during your relaxation day. Move any appointments you have that day. That way, the day is wide open.
  • How you take the day off is up to you. You may want to schedule it a couple of weeks in advance and use one of you paid vacation days. However, you can also take a sick day as a mental health day, if your boss is amenable to that idea. [1]
  • Turn your phone on emergency only. Many smartphones have an option to only let certain calls through (from your close friends and family) or to only let calls through from people who’ve called multiple times (like people do when it’s an emergency). Try putting your phone on one of these settings so people can’t get a hold of you unless they really need you.
    • Try closing your eyes and focusing all your attention on your breathing. Breathe in slowly, counting to four before breathing out. As you breathe out, you should also count to four. Make sure you are breathing deeply, from your diaphragm. Keep your attention on your breathing until you feel your stress melting away.
  • Close the screens down. Of course, you may want to watch television or a movie on a relaxing day. However, try turning off your other technology, such as your laptop and tablet. When you’re on technology, you have access to your email. If you can get on your email, you have the potential to stress yourself out. In addition, you will also be able to view things like the news, which may let stress intrude on your day. Try taking a break from the internet just for today. [3]
    • Don’t hold yourself to a plan. If you decide ahead of time that you want to work in the garden but you really don’t feel like it when the day rolls around, don’t worry about it. Just do what your heart desires. [5]
  • Choose some good music. It doesn’t really matter what it is, as long as it puts you in a good mood. Let it play in the background while you’re going about your day. [6]

    Edit Creating a Spa Day

    1. Take a bath. The warm water will help relax your muscles, as you let your cares drift away. You can even add a bath bomb or two to help pamper your skin while you’re soaking. [7]
    • Try lighting some candles in your bathroom to create a soothing ambiance. [8]
  • Apply a face mask. A face mask can be relaxing in and of itself, but it will also make your skin feel nice. The easiest solution is to use a store-bought version. However, you can also make a simple face mask at home with a few ingredients. Mash up a couple of strawberries. Add a dollop of both honey and plain yogurt. Mix the ingredients together, and apply it to your face. Wash it off after 15 minutes. [9]
    • For store-bought versions, follow the directions on the bottle for how long you should leave it on.
  • Try a hot oil hair treatment. This treatment can relax you just because it feels soothing on your head. In addition, it will also help moisturize and rejuvenate your hair. Afterwards, your hair will be silkier and shinier. [10]
    • To create a hot oil treatment, simply pour a little olive oil in a small bowl, a couple of tablespoons or so. Add a dollop of coconut oil and a tablespoon or two of honey. Heat it up in the microwave for about 15 seconds, but don’t let it overheat. Mix the ingredients together. [11]
    • Use a pastry brush to apply the mixture to your hair from roots to tips. Tuck your hair into a shower cap, or wrap it in plastic wrap. Leave it on for several hours, if possible, then wash it out. [12]
    • You don’t need all three ingredients if you don’t have them. You can just use one of the oils (without honey) if that’s all you have.
  • Make a sugar scrub. Sugar scrubs are easy to make with ingredients you have on hand. You use these scrubs to exfoliate your skin, sloughing off dry, dead skin cells. To make sugar scrub, just mix one part oil (such as coconut oil or olive oil) with two parts brown sugar (white will do in a pinch). You can also add in a scent with essential oils or even just a dash or two of cinnamon from your cupboard. [13]
    • If you use coconut oil, heat it in the microwave for a minute or two to help it melt before adding the sugar.
    • To use the scrub, simply rub it into your skin with your hands and then wash it off.
  • Try a foot treatment. Get a thick foot cream. Wet a towel, making sure to shake or wring out excess water. Microwave it for about 60 seconds. Once it’s done, apply the cream to your feet, and wrap up your feet in the towel. Leave it on for about 15 minutes. [14]

    Edit Having a Veg-Out Day

    1. Get some tasty snacks. One of the keys to a veg-out day is to have some of your favorite snacks on hand. Pick whatever you like, from chips and dips to ice cream. If you prefer, try ordering a pizza.
    • Don’t overdo it, though. You don’t want to ruin the effects of a relaxing day by having a hangover the next morning.
  • Try a cozy beverage. If you don’t drink, don’t worry. Try coffee, tea, or hot chocolate instead of the alcohol. It can be just as comforting, especially if you treat yourself to something you don’t normally drink. [17]
    • Don’t be afraid to pull out a sad movie. Sometimes, having a good cry over a movie can help you deal with the reality of what’s going on in your life. [19]
  • Curl up with a good book. If movies aren’t your thing, get yourself a new book that you know you’ll love. Curl up with it all day under a warm blanket. [20]
    • You don’t need to buy a book. Borrow one from a friend, or check one out from the library. In fact, you can check out digital books from most libraries if you have an e-reader.
  • Edit Relaxing and Pampering Yourself in Other Ways

    1. Work on something you love. Maybe you don’t get to spend as much time painting as you’d like to, or maybe you enjoy gardening but don’t get out in the backyard very much. Take some time on your pampering day to enjoy doing a hobby you love. Not only will it make you happier, it can help you de-stress from the week. [21]
    • For a cheaper method, pick some up at a grocery store the day before.
  • Order food from a fancy restaurant. Most cities have delivery services now that deliver food from even high-end places. Look at services available in your city, such as GrubHub or Postmates, to see what restaurants they deliver from. Pick one of your favorites to pamper yourself. [25]

How to Devote a Day to Pampering Yourself at Home

Self-care is all the rage these days, and why shouldn’t it be? There is no shame in wanting to take better care of yourself! While a lot of self-care practices focus on your inner state and mentality, pairing them with some indulgent pampering of your outer self is also important for overall well-being.

You don’t have to fork over a ton of money to effectively treat yo’ self, as small purchases over time paired with items you already have stocked in your beauty repertoire can elevate a regular Sunday afternoon into a luxurious experience.

Here, I’m sharing five ways to take your at-home pampering game to the next level.

How to Devote a Day to Pampering Yourself at Home

    1. Set Up Your Home Spa

    • Set the mood with relaxing music. Spotify has several spa-inspired playlists for you to find something that’s your style. It could be ambient, classical, or something really meditative like Tibetan singing bowls.
    • Clean your entire home. I know, pampering yourself shouldn’t require work, but if you truly want to feel relaxed, you should make a point to completely clear your “spa” of clutter and grime. Take it a step further by cleaning out a couple drawers or your closet — you’ll feel lighter and more relaxed instantly.
    • Cleanse from the inside. Make a batch of fruit-infused detox water and make a point to finish it over the course of your day. Pick up a gallon of alkaline water from the store along with lemons, cucumbers, and watermelon, and keep a pitcher in your refrigerator. Have some healthy snacks like hummus and veggies or the makings for avocado toast on hand.
    • Dress the part. It’s not going to feel like a truly pampering experience without the essential spa outfit, but it doesn’t have to be expensive to feel indulgent! A simple long robe, a pair of slippers, and a head wrap are all you need to feel like you’ve stepped out of your regular routine and into a space of self-care.

    2. Soak in a Luxurious Bath

Start your pampering process by relaxing in a hot bath. Rather than reaching for an expensive bath bomb, consider soaking in epsom salt instead. Epsom salt promotes blood circulation and helps alleviate muscle tension and inflammation. After a long soak, give yourself a good scrub using some Korean body mitts for deep exfoliation. Follow your bath up with a long massage, using either a lightweight moisturizing oil or one with an essential oil blend.

    3. Give Yourself an Esthetician-Style Facial

Beauty bloggers take skincare very seriously, and with good reason. They know that healthy skin is the foundation for every makeup look. Even if you can’t spring for the $100+ facial from a licensed esthetician every month, there are ways to achieve spa-quality results at home. Invest in a few products and follow these steps for an effective at-home facial.

    • Remove all of your makeup with a gentle cleanser like Glossier’s Milky Jelly Cleanser.
    • Follow with a low pH cleanser, massaging in circular motions on your face and neck for up to a minute. Allow the cleanser to sit as a mask for another two minutes. Rinse with warm water and pat skin dry with a clean towel.
    • Steam your skin for up to 10 minutes to open and cleanse pores. You can boil water on the stove, but an easier and safer way is to invest in a facial steaming device, as steam coming from stovetop water can be irritating for some skin types. There are plenty of affordable options on Amazon that you can use once or twice a week for improved skin tone and texture — and not just on your designated spa days.
    • After your pores have been steamed open, now it’s time for some chemical exfoliation. Chemical exfoliation is a gentler and more potent method of removing dead skin rather than physical exfoliants like scrubs, which can tear the skin’s surface. The Ordinary’s AHA 30% + BHA 2% is a perfect formula for beginners in acid exfoliation and is only $7.20 USD!
    • Follow up your chemical exfoliation with a moisturizing and calming face mask. Either a cream or gel based mask or sheet mask will do the trick.
    • Rinse your skin with cold water and apply your regular moisturizer, lip balm, and eye cream. Consider purchasing a hyaluronic acid serum to plump your skin and keep it looking spa-fresh longer.

    4. Tend to Your Nails

Regular mani/pedis can get pricey quick, but they are an essential component to always looking put-together. Practice your pampering techniques often, and you’ll soon have salon-quality nails with a one-time investment into tools and products. You most likely have several products already on hand, but here’s a checklist to get you started.

    • A basic nail tool kit with clippers and cuticle blades
    • Nail polish remover
    • Cuticle oil/remover
    • Cotton pads
    • Nail polish and clear gel top coat
    • Nail files
    • Nail buffer
    • LED drying lamp (optional)

    5. Learn How to Give Yourself a Blowout

One day, we’ll all have standing weekly appointments at DryBar like actual beauty bloggers, and we won’t bat an eye at dropping $45 for the perfect blowout. Until then, we can take the “fake it ‘til you make it” approach and start practicing our round brushing skills. If, like many of us, you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed with all that’s going on right now, you could probably use a day at the spa. After forgoing many of our normal luxuries for months, let’s face it – we’re all ready for a little pampering.

But, if a trip to the spa isn’t in the cards right now, don’t let that stop you from getting the self-care you deserve. With a bit of planning and preparation, you can have a lovely and luxurious spa day at home. Get ready for a little quality “me time” with these six tips for a perfect day of relaxation while staying in.

    Comfort is Key

The number one goal at the spa is to make guests feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible. So don’t neglect this critical step when planning your at-home spa day. Start by wrapping yourself in a super soft or silky robe and don some plush slippers. Then get your fluffiest towels ready for after your treatments. And don’t forget to turn up the thermostat a little, so you’re warm and cozy all day long. You should never have a chill at the spa!

    Remove Distractions

Almost any spa you visit has a strict no cellphone rule. Make your day as relaxing as possible by turning off your phone or, at the very least silencing notifications. This day is all about you, so you won’t need to know what’s going on in the outside world.

    Set the Mood

What does the spa have that you probably don’t get very often at home? The perfect relaxing ambiance. To recreate the mood, indulge your senses with a collection of spa staples.

Scent has the power to calm us and trigger positive memories. Try lighting a candle or using a diffuser with your favorite calming scent to help you unwind. You can also use a few drops of your favorite massage oil on pressure points to carry the soothing scent with you.

Lighting and music also play an essential role in creating a relaxing environment. Dim the lights or light candles to get a soft, warm light that will help you relax. Then drown out exterior sounds such as traffic or lawn equipment with white noise or peaceful music. Choose calming nature sounds such as soft rain or ocean waves for a soothing, distraction-free atmosphere.

    Get in the Zone

To get the full spa day experience, you need to think a little bigger than just a facial and warm bath. Make the most of your “me day” by setting up zones in different areas of your house for different treatments.

For example, you could create a mud zone in the bathroom and a massage area in the bedroom. If you have a bit of outdoor space, create a spot outside for breaks. Set out a blanket and pillows and a few of your favorite snacks for sustenance over the course of the day.

    Customize Your Day

Take the time to customize your perfect day – after all, you’re the one making the schedule. If you’re an early bird, start with a sunrise meditation session. But if you’re a night owl, go ahead and sleep in and plan for a candlelit soak at the end of the day. Or maybe you’re not a bath fan. Then skip the long soak in favor of a facial while you read in your favorite spot.

    Start at the Bottom

To give yourself the full-body treatment, start at the bottom and work your way up. Your feet carry a lot of weight every day and they deserve a little pampering too. Try soaking them in warm water and Epsom salts to relieve those aches and pains. Then use your favorite oil or skin care treatment to help replenish dry skin.

Next, be sure to pamper your entire outer layer with scented scrubs and moisturizers. Once that’s done, treat your face with a mask, depending on your skin type and seasonal needs. Lastly, top it all off with some love for your locks. Choose a hair mask, oil or cream and slather your strands for some quick hair repair.

After all that’s happened this year, we could all benefit from a calm, soothing environment and a little self-care that makes us feel good from head to toe. Use these tips to treat yourself to the perfect spa day at home.

You’ve probably been hearing the term “self-care” come up even more than usual lately.

But that’s because the concept is more important than ever right now, now that our worlds are primarily contained within the confines of our homes and broadened only by the strength of our WiFi.

All that is temporary, but the need to tend to our well-being, inside and out, is not. Luckily, paying attention to one more often than not helps with the other, making even the simplest of steps a mighty multitasker.

And whether you already have an at-home routine or are in dire need of some tips for de-stressing, you’ve come to the right place.

Perhaps you are a person who never misses a workout, meditates daily, books all of your grooming appointments well in advance and keeps a trove of wellness products at the ready.

Or, maybe you’re like most other people and you try to do what you can, when you remember.

Either way, we’re all in the same boat now in terms of needing to come up with ways to take care of ourselves at home, and Goop Senior Beauty Editor Megan O’Neill has shared some ways you can pamper your skin, body and mind that feel indulgent but are comfortingly doable:

Touch Your Face (Obviously With Very Clean Hands)

“Give yourself a face massage with any face oil or lotion you already have—or nothing at all! I do think things like face massage are really soothing and have an effect. You are supporting lymphatic drainage and de-puffing. The result is a brighter smoother face. You don’t need product for that. Anything at all, it doesn’t have to be a fancy face oil or fancy lotion. Just doing that motion is very soothing and very effective.

“Same with a scalp massage. Great if you have a conditioner but you don’t even need one. You don’t even need to do it while washing your hair, you could just take a break from work and sit somewhere quiet and give yourself a scalp massage. We have this video on Goop that sort of walks you through it so it’s really easy and takes a few minutes. It is a nice break or a nice wind-down ritual—or morning ritual!”

Roll It Out—and We Don’t Just Mean Bread Dough

“Foam roll if you have one,” Megan recommends. “If not there are other ways to work out your fascia, like an online session with Bendable Body—a stretching/fascia-working studio that offers online courses. I love the sessions from Alo Yoga online, or do a free online meditation session to help incorporate relaxation into your day.”

    Chill Out

“Take a 2-minute cold shower to help manage stress. The shock of the cold water helps train your body to better handle stressors and anxiety throughout the day, and taking cold showers and/or ice baths helps support your immune system, which is so insanely valuable right now. On our Netflix show The goop Lab, we devoted a whole episode to cold therapy—and also talk about the breathing method that goes with it. We have an expert named Win Hoff and one of the things he says is, if you take a cold 2-minute shower every day, you are basically going to live forever. It helps you manage stress, and it helps boost immunity and works because it is a small stressor and is training your body to better handle stress throughout the day and the week.

“Win says 2 minutes is the optimal amount of time. Start with 30 seconds and work your way up. So maybe do that in the morning and then the bath is at night. The cold shower is also invigorating and a great way to start your work-from-home-day.”

    Feel Free to Inhale

If you want to make your bathroom feel more spa-like, Megan says, “a steamy bath is really great right now. If you have essential oils you could use those and put a few drops into your bath. Or, if you can find eucalyptus leaves, it’s so pretty to hang that off your shower so when the steam fills the bathroom, the whole bathroom smells of eucalyptus.”

    Multitask in the Tub

“Warm baths are something we love for relaxing and getting away from our phones. We suggest lighting a candle and sitting with a DIY face mask on.”

Megan’s favorite at-home options include, “from Dr. Amy Wechsler, a yogurt or whole milk mask (both are sources of exfoliating lactic acid) mixed with honey (antibacterial, blemish-soothing properties) or one of facialist Joanna Vargas’ at-home recipes for a glow mask. The milk and honey mask is great for a mask and spot treatment. If you have blemishes, spot treat with that and go to sleep with it. Also, using aspirin if you have it, crush it up and mix with warm water to use as salicylic acid to spot treat blemishes.”

    Go On, Raid That Pantry

“For a hydrating mask, just mash up an avocado and use that as a mushy paste and dampen it over your skin and leave it on for a bit. Avocado is very rich and creamy and has conditioning properties. Rub it onto your scalp, hair and face. That is a great moisturizing mask. Olive oil is also a great body moisturizer filled with antioxidants, similar to coconut oil, and is also very hydrating.

“For products that people have at home in their medicine cabinet or fridges, coconut oil has antibacterial benefits and it’s also moisturizing so you could use a little bit of coconut oil. You don’t need a lot, so a little goes a long way to sooth into your skin. You could use that to do the facial massage or just use it as a moisturizer.”

    Eye-Openers

“To de-puff or soothe your eyes: go into your freezer and grab any frozen bags of veggies or fruits and put that bag on your eyes. Use the old-fashioned way and cut up a cucumber and put the slices on your eyes, or even use a frozen spoon over your eyes to help soothe.”

    Do Some Sole-Searching

Last but not least, don’t forget about your feet. Megan reminds us, “It’s also a really great time to give yourself a foot massage. Whether you are alone or with significant others during this time, it’s a great way to have that soothing touch. It’s a really beautiful thing to do that is soothing or comforting. You can use nothing at all, as the action is amazing, or use a dab of coconut oil from your kitchen, or any lotion you have that is sitting around.”

How to Devote a Day to Pampering Yourself at Home

I don’t know about you, but something as minute as a manicure and pedicure really makes my day. But not only that — it helps me reconnect with my body and relax in general.

A great way to boost your body image, after all, is to give your body tons of TLC.

Sadly, there’s this idea in society that if you aren’t a certain shape or size or you aren’t dieting or you aren’t striving to lose weight, you can’t do nice things for your body, because right now, as you are, you don’t deserve it. You must swim in shame, and never treat yourself or indulge too much until you lose weight and become worthy.

Of course, this is the weight-loss and diet industries talking – and anyone else who benefits monetarily (or in other ways) when you hate how you look.

But believe me, you always, always, always deserve to be pampered and cared for.

So if you have the time, sometime very soon, spend a full day in pampering mode. If you’re too busy to devote an entire day, then take out an hour or two. Plus, if you’d like, get your best girlfriends involved.

Here are some ideas for what to do on your pampering day. But, ultimately, of course, it’s whatever makes you happy! So if you have a few minutes today, make a list of all the body-positive pampering activities you’d like to do.

    • Take a bath with the works: yummy-smelling candles, soothing music, your softest towels, bath salts or essential oils, a glass of wine, champagne, juice or sparkling water with lemon.
    • Take several minutes to apply a luxurious lotion to your body.
    • Give yourself a 5-minute hand massage.
    • Create a full-course meal, whether you live with loved ones or by yourself, whether you’re a “good” cook or not. Pull out the “nice” dishes (for me, that’s anything aside from paper plates.) And then when you do eat, do so mindfully, savoring the scents, tastes and textures.
    • Get a mani and pedi. (I seriously feel like a million bucks after getting a pedicure.)
    • Buy super soft sheets, and actually get to bed on time. (If you’re like me and don’t have big bucks to spend on bedsheets, I highly recommend shopping at TJ Maxx or Marshall’s.)
    • Wear a favorite outfit, put on perfume and makeup (if you enjoy that).
    • Do your fave stretches or try these.
    • Take a scenic bike ride or walk.
    • Splash around in the ocean, lake or pool.

    Beauty

Now, I know what you’re thinking. It would be so much nicer to go to a spa, check out for few hours and let someone else cater to your every whim! That sounds divine! But if you’re like me, (and I praise you if you’re not) checking out for a few hours of me time sends my mommy guilt skyrocketing. There’s nothing relaxing about being at a spa, meanwhile you’re having mommy guilt the entire time you’re being massaged. I know, I know it’s silly! As moms we really do need to take time for ourselves and know that it’s OK–I work on that philosophy daily. When you can set aside some time from your busy day to focus on yourself, it can truly be a reenergizing experience—and the whole family will benefit.

For some of us who just can’t get away to a spa because it’s too expensive or you just don’t have the time or help, bring the spa home to you. Once every 10 or so days I take a nice prolonged “spa shower”. Not the usual “how fast can I take this shower”, but a nice, long, hot shower. And I bring out my favorite pampering products to use both in and out of the shower.

    Here’s a list of my pamper-yourself-at-home must-haves:

As moms we really do need to take time for ourselves and know that it’s OK.

How to Devote a Day to Pampering Yourself at Home

Ellis Brooklyn Candle : I keep this candle in our bathroom. Before I jump in the shower, I light it and the aroma in the air genuinely transports me into my Zen-like world with no mommy guilt attached.

Spa bath mitt body exfoliator : I LOVE these mitts. I’ve been using them for years. You add your body wash to the mitt and scrub. It’s invigorating and you just feel clean. Here’s another tip–buy two, one for each hand.

Body Scrub : This body scrub is heaven from Heaven On Main Street. Remember my friend Taylor who brought us her Kale Brownies ? Well, she has this AMAZING new skin care line and I’ve been benefiting from it greatly. Lucky me! Between the salt and sugar that exfoliates and the oils (including coconut oil) that makes your skin so silky smooth, the natural fragrance alone makes you feel like you’re in a fabulous spa.

Pumice : Walk a mile in my shoes… and boy are my feet dry! Those winter months sure took a toll on my feet. Look after them. A good scrub is never a bad choice.

Sugar Lip Polish : When was the last time you exfoliated your lips? Exactly. Try it! It’s all about pampering yourself and doing something that you normally wouldn’t do on any given day.

Coconut Oil : After my shower and before I towel off, I slather this product all over my damp body. I’m a HUGE coconut oil lover as everyone has gotten to know by now. Once you wipe it off with your towel, it’s already soaked in nicely and you feel and smell lovely.

Triple Oxygen Facial Mask : Once I’m out of the shower I throw this mask on my face. This is my go to quick fix 5-minute mask. The foamy mask slowly disintegrates after 5 minutes. Wash your face and you’ll look and feel so refreshed and your skin will look completely revived.

Face Oil Calm & Clear : It’s like a spa in a bottle. Just breathing in the pure Rose otto, Frankincense, Indonesian Sandalwood, two types of Chamomile and a healthy dose of Lavender, all encourage a sense of peace and tranquility. Everything you’ll need to get back out there to your spectacular mamahood world feeling invigorated. It’ll have your skin feeling hydrated but not too oily.

You deserve to treat yourself to some pampering—even if it’s at home. Do you have any me-time routines or rituals?

How to Devote a Day to Pampering Yourself at Home

Firstly and most importantly, gear yourself with all the basics you’ll need – aroma candles, tea lights, bath towels, rose petals, strawberries, wine or a bubbly, chocolates, soft music and the magical recipes I am about to give you. So keep aside your phone and concentrate only on yourself.

How to Devote a Day to Pampering Yourself at Home

Start the pampering session with an amorous body massage using some aphrodisiac massage oils you can create on your own. Here’s how: take 50ml almond oil, 50ml olive oil, 4 drops sandalwood oil, and 4 drops rose essential oil, and mix well. Use this to massage gently but firmly easing out every tension in the body.

I always feel that a body polish is an excellent way of detoxing the body and lending it a Greek God-like sheen. You can create a delicious sugar scrub with the following ingredients:

    1 cup granulated white sugar

50 ml of rice bran oil

    A handful of rose petals

3 drops each of the following-

    Essential oil of jasmine

    Essential oil of sandalwood

    Essential oil of tuberose

Mix all the ingredients well together and store in a glass container. After a languorous body massage, you could use the exfoliating grains and gently scrub yourself. Not only will the gentle scrubbing in rotating movements increase blood circulation but the skin will become baby soft and glowing in no time.

How to Devote a Day to Pampering Yourself at Home

Once the scrubbing and kneading come to an end, what better way to end the session than soaking in a tub or jacuzzi filled with aromatic oils and flowers? Once again I think essential oils of juniper, rose, sandalwood and jasmine have an erotic fragrance that soothes and heightens the senses. Use mogra, marigold petals and roses to fill up the tub, and enjoy the experience sipping bubbly and munching on strawberries and chocolates.

Our favorite “treat yourself” places may be currently closed, but there are many ways you can give yourself that desired care at home. You might be surprised how many products and self-care rituals you have access to that you might be missing out on currently. It does not need to cost an arm and a leg either. Here are five self-pampering things you can do at home for little to NO cost:

    • Create a spa for yourself

Light some candles and put on some relaxing music. Fill your bathtub with warm water and add some bath salts or Epsom salts, which are great muscle relaxers. Get in and let your troubles soak away! For extra relaxation bring a glass of red wine.

    • Give yourself silky smooth skin

Body scrubs are generally affordable and can be ordered from sites like Amazon or Bed, Bath and Body Works. If you don’t own one currently or don’t want to wait to have it shipped, body scrub is usually easy to make at home. Here are the items you need:

    • spoons for mixing
    • mixing bowl
    • measuring spoons or cups
    • a carrier or base oil, such as coconut oil, jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, almond oil, or olive oil
    • sealed container to store the scrub in
    • a few drops of your favorite essential oils, if desired

Mix the oils with the granules of your choice, such as salt or sugar. You may also want to add other ingredients that can benefit your skin, like honey or green tea. For a list of easy homemade body scrubs click here.

    • Give yourself a mani/pedi

It’s finally time to take out that old nail polish you don’t use anymore! Not everyone has the steadiest hand for nail painting, but practice makes perfect. There are plenty of manicure kits available that are usually cheap to help get the more refined look. Gel manicure fan? No problem. You might be surprised how affordable gel manicure kits are. You might get so good at it you save money sometimes when salons reopen.

    • Time for an at-home hair treatment!

While I’m sure some of us need a haircut or root touch up, there are some things you can do for your hair right now. Laying off the hot tools and not blow-drying as frequently will give your hair the much-needed break it deserves. If you’d rather not purchase a hair mask or leave-in-conditioning treatment, try a one or two ingredient mask. Here are some ingredients that you can find at home:

    • Coconut Oil
    • Egg yolk
    • Honey and banana
    • Jojoba Oil
    • Avocado and Mayonnaise
    • Yogurt, honey, and olive oil

Click here to see the benefits behind each one.

    • Try putting on a face mask that isn’t made of fabric.

For those of you that wear makeup on a daily basis, this time at home is giving your skin a chance to breathe. Even if you don’t wear a lot of makeup, this is a great opportunity to treat your skin and get it feeling healthy and glowing. If you’re like me you have a few face masks underneath your bathroom sink in a bag, but if not, don’t worry! Here is a list of homemade face mask recipes.

Hard-working people are the engine that keeps the world running smoothly. Not only do they have to devote themselves to their jobs, but they also tend to the needs of their loved ones.

Yet, in the process of catering to their families and meeting their career goals, people somehow neglect themselves. If that sounds like you, then you are in dire need of some self-care inspiration.

My collection of quotes about pampering yourself will remind you that a little bit of self-coddling goes a long way both for your mental and physical well-being. Hopefully, you will find plenty of ideas on how to indulge yourself.

How to Devote a Day to Pampering Yourself at Home

Stressed? In need of some relaxation? A pamper night is calling your name.

Sometimes, we all need to take a little time for ourselves.

At home, pampering doesn’t need to be difficult, all you need is a few essentials! Adding some touches of luxury here and there will make all the difference.

Not sure how it’s done? Here are our top tips for the most luxurious pamper evening possible. All the indulgences featured here are entirely guilt-free!

    Light Some Candles

Want to have a spa evening at home? Think of all your different senses – starting with smell.

Spas often use natural scents, such as lavender, to create the fragrance that has become synonymous with relaxation. This inviting aroma is easy enough to recreate with a few candles.

We recommend using non-toxic candles , made from natural ingredients, to prevent harmful chemicals being released when burnt.

    Burn Some Incense

If you’ve turned your bedroom into a sanctuary , it’s likely you’re already familiar with incense.

But, for those of us who are unfamiliar, it has the ability to de-stress and evoke a sense of tranquillity. So, it’s unsurprising they’re a welcome guest at every good pamper night.

    Put On Tranquil Tunes

To set the tone of your evening, the right music is a must. The theme should be relaxing, but choose whatever complements your taste.

    Pop Open Some Bubbles

Wondering how to have a pamper day at home? The trick is to treat yourself.

A cold glass of something bubbly is one of the main pamper night essentials. Anything in the prosecco and champagne family is invited.

    Make a Relaxing Drink

If you’d rather something non-alcoholic, this is also perfectly welcome.

In fact, this is probably advisable, as this evening is all about relaxation! Peppermint tea or hot chocolate are often popular choices.

    Run a Bubble Bath

With your glass of bubbles (or drink of choice) nearby, it’s time to run a bath.

There are no rules for how much bubble bath you’re allowed to use. Pour in as much as you need to feel relaxed!

The benefits of having a long, warm bath are endless. While it’s one of the best ways to unwind and de-stress before bed , it also helps with deep muscle relaxation and takes care of your skin.

    Get Out the Body Scrub

Exfoliating your skin regularly is a must. Not only will you feel good, you’ll reduce the likelihood of skin breakouts, challenge the aging process and improve your skin texture.

    Cleanse

    Face Mask

Nothing says ‘pamper session’ like a face mask!

    Moisturise

You can leave your face mask on for as long as you like, there’s no rush to remove it.

But, when you do feel like taking it off, make sure you moisturise afterwards.

    Reach for the Body Moisturiser

It’s not just your face that needs taking care of! Be sure to give the rest of your body some much needed attention. You’ll be amazed at how silky soft your skin will feel in the morning.

How to Devote a Day to Pampering Yourself at Home

    Always Keep Fighting

The most important thing to look after yourself is to have a me day. Whether you’re stressing at work, have mental health issues or don’t think you need one, me days are great and help you relax any way you want to.

People have me days all the time but two people’s ideas of a Me day may be very different and that’s ok. Just because your idea of a Me day is different doesn’t mean it’s wrong.

For my Me day I like to sometimes have a pj day and watch my favourite films and eat food I wanna eat like pringles and a box of chocolates. Other days a Me day is when I pamper myself, do the 3 minute self care hair mask, paint my nails, do that face mask I keep meaning to do and just make myself feel good. Another day it might be getting all dressed up and doing my hair and make up just to go for a walk and read my book.

A Me day is whatever you want it to be. The most important thing is to not worry about what other people do on their Me days because they are all individual to that person.

Below are some links to give you some ideas for your own Me days.
